ZONING BD: JUST SAY NO!

Neighbors on Walden, Ringwood, Mayflower, Bluff's Edge and in the Havenwood area and all other Lake Forest residents concerned with preserving the residential aspects of residential neighborhoods are urged to attend the next Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting Monday, October 28, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 220 East Deerpath, Lake Forest.
Walden Road residents, Robert & Ann Krebs, are seeking a Special Use Permit to turn their home into an annex of Lake Forest College.  LF College's president has stated the College will hold classes and other events at the residence, which the Krebs intend to name "Krebs Center for Medieval and Renaissance Scholarship and Students" and hand over to the College at a date to be determined later.  The Krebs residence is in the middle of a pristine and bucolic neighborhood on Lake Forest's East Side.  It does not abut commercial property and is over a mile from Lake Forest College.   If the petition is granted, nothing would prevent other residents from changing the use of their residences into a non-residential use, whether or not they abut commercial or school properties.  Neighbors are concerned with safety, noise, street-widening, lighting, bussing, supplies transport and whether the Zoning Board will allow one neighbor to turn his home into a college annex despite the signed petitions of over 40 of his neighbors asking he not be allowed to do so. Neighbors are also concerned with the College's status as a landlord in their neighborhood as it has already allowed a home it owns at 831 East Rosemary to fall into disrepair and be used NOT AS A RESIDENCE, BUT AS A WAREHOUSE. PLEASE COME AND LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD!
