Open Letter from Patrick Patt - Independent Candidate for Lake Forest District 67 School Board

Open Letter from Patrick Patt, Independent Candidate, Lake Forest School District 67 Board of Education

Open Letter from Patrick Patt – Independent Candidate: Lake Forest School District 67 School Board Election

“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” That quote from Winston Churchill has special meaning for the residents of Lake Forest.

Though our schools are staffed with wonderful, caring teachers, the reputation of Lake Forest Elementary School District 67 has suffered from recent decisions by the present Board of Education.

The Board’s failure to address a serious personnel issue at the middle school and their recent spending decisions have brought negative attention from the media and created credibility problems between the Board and the community.

As residents of Lake Forest for over 23 years my wife and I, like others in our community, are saddened that the reputation of District 67 has been impacted by the Board’s serious lapses in judgment.

The Lake Forest Caucus interviewed, vetted and endorsed the current Board of Education. Though the caucus selected well-meaning individuals, recent decisions by the District 67 Board reflect a lack of understanding about how an exemplary elementary school system should function.

As an independent candidate for the District 67 Board of Education my voice and my extensive experience as an educator will provide the context for sound decisions and wise governance. My experience in developing a cutting edge curriculum while prudently managing the financial resources of neighboring Oak Grove District 68 offers a unique opportunity for our community.

With four open seats, the Lake Forest Caucus will automatically win three of those seats. It is time for a change and time for an independent voice.

By choosing to cast only one vote in the school board election and voting for me, Patrick Patt, you will insure that the Board has a member with the background, the knowledge and the proven track record to improve the governance of District 67 and truly make a difference.

Please vote on April 9th.  Your vote WILL make a difference.
