"Walking the Walk" by Patrick Patt, Independent Candidate for Lake Forest School District 67 Board of Education

Lake Forest School District 67 Board of Education Election

Walking the Walk

Candidates for office typically pledge that they will be “independent, open and transparent” and, though it’s a laudable goal often made with great sincerity, it frequently becomes a pledge that is easier said than done and one that is easier to “talk the talk” than “walk the walk”.

Challenging the status quo and dealing with pressure from opposing interests is difficult for anyone new to board service.

With four open seats on The District 67 School Board the majority of board members would be inexperienced in board service and in school governance if all four caucus candidates were to be elected.

On Tuesday, April 9th, voters have the opportunity to ensure that one of the seats on the District 67 School Board is held by a candidate with a long history of “walking the walk”. As a successful educational leader with proven accomplishments in every area of school governance (fiscal management, curriculum development, staff evaluation and involving parents in their child’s education) --- and with prior school board experience, I offer the District 67 voters a unique opportunity in this election. Adding the voice of a truly independent candidate can only enhance the effectiveness of the board and open the door to real transparency.

Our community deserves a truly exemplary school district that functions with complete transparency and openness. My candidacy and my qualifications are based on my lifelong involvement in the field of education and my proven track record of accomplishment in educational leadership.

I ask for your support and for your trust that I will continue to “Walk the Walk” as a member of the District 67 Board of Education.

Thank you,

Patrick Patt
