ATV Goes for Noisy 1 a.m. Spin; Vehicle Drives onto Lawn

A man was also questioned about whether he was taking pictures or texting on the bike path.

Pot possession

An officer conducted a traffic stop at Route 41 and Knauz for improper lane usage at 2 a.m. July 13. The driver was arrested for possession of cannabis.

Vehicle driven onto lawn

Officers responded to the 700 block of Smith Avenue for a driver who had driven his vehicle onto the front lawn of a home at 3:15 p.m. July 14. The Lake County Sheriff’s office arrested the driver for not having a valid license.

Solicitor complaint

An officer responded ot the 600 block of East Center Avenue for a solicitor complaint at 8 p.m. July 15. The solicitor agreed to stop for the night and contact her boss to be picked up from the area. A verbal warning for solicitation without a permit was issued.

Stolen lawn ornament

A resident in the 100 block of Ravine Avenue reported July 16 that a sign and lawn ornament were taken from the yard overnight.

Suspicious person

An officer responded to the 400 block of Park Lane for a report of a suspicious person looking into the back yard at 3:30 p.m. July 16. The person is a contractor for a utility company who was working on telephone lines in the area and provided proper identification.

Aggravated DUI

An officer conducted a traffic stop just before midnight July 17 at Route 41 at the northern limits. The driver was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and driving while license revoked.

ATV complaint

An officer responded to Hawthorne and Sheridan for a loud noise complaint of an ATV running up and down the street at 1 a.m. July 18. The officer saw a large go-kart-type vehicle driving through the neighborhood. It finally stopped after nearly crashing on East Sheridan Place. The driver was cited for improper use of an ATV on the road.

Texting or taking photos – so hard to tell?

An officer responded to a report of a man on the bike path who was either photographing people or texting at 3:30 p.m. July 18. The officer found a man matching the description who said he had been texting, not taking pictures.

Drug arrest

An officer conducted a traffic stop at routes 41 and 176 at 12:15 a.m. July 19. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and the passenger was arrested for possession of cannabis.
