Blotter: 50 Pounds Of Quarters Disappear; Teens Find Barat College Is Not In Session

Criminal Trespass to Land

Four juveniles, three males and one female, from Highland Park, were charged with criminal trespass to land at 8:40 p.m. June 13 in the 700 block of Westleigh Road. An officer on patrol discovered a truck hidden behind some trees on the Barat College property. The four juveniles, including one male age 17, one age 16, one age 15 and one female age 16, were found and issued citations for trespassing. The vehicle and individuals were behind a chain link fence that is posted No Trespassing and Danger Keep Out. They will attend an administrative hearing at 9 a.m. July 13 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol, Curfew

A 17-year-old female from Lake Forest was charged with minor consumption of alcohol and curfew violation at 3 a.m. June 14 at the intersection of Waukegan Road and Gage Lane. The girl was sitting on the curb in the middle of the night waiting for a ride home. Another subject with her was 18 years old. The female was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. She will attend an administrative hearing at 9 a.m. July 13 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Jeremy Lopez, 29, 600 W. Washington Ave., Lake Bluff, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI over the .08 limit, no driver's license and improper lane usage at 11:40 p.m. June 8 at the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Lopez was stopped for improper lane usage. He failed field sobriety tests and provided a breath test resulting in a blood alcohol concentration of .168. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a June 24 court date in Waukegan.

Public Intoxication

James A. Barrows, 45, 843 Northwoods Drive., Deerfield, was charged with public intoxication on the bike path near the intersection of Old Elm and South McKinley roads at 3:10 p.m. June 6. He was released on a $120 bond pending a July 5 court date in Park City.

Curfew Violation

Three Lake Forest juveniles were charged with curfew violation at 2:18 a.m. June 4 near the intersection of Westleigh Road and Circle Lane. Police were called to a loud music complaint in the 1000 block of McCormick Avenue. The three teens, one male, 17, and two females, ages 17 and 16, were found by police while checking the area. They will attend an administrative hearing July 13 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Theft

A resident in the 900 block of Hawthorne Avenue reported the theft of 50 pounds of quarters June 4. The quarters were kept in an unlocked safe. There was no forced entry into the house. The value of the items is unknown at this time.

 

LAKE BLUFF

Solicitor Complaint

Officer responded to the 200 block of Buckminister Court for a solicitor complaint, and found the subject in the 20 block of Trowbridge Circle at 6:14 p.m. June 17. Subject was issued a ticket for soliciting without a permit, and given a courtesy ride to the Mobil gas station at Route 176 and Waukegan Road.

Officer responded to the 500 block of Cambridge for a report of suspicious people, and found two people walking down the street at 2:21 p.m. June 17. They said they were selling magazine subscriptions. Officer advised them of the village ordinance requiring a permit and gave them a verbal warning. They were given a courtesy ride to the Mobil gas station at Route 176 and Waukegan Road.

Officer responded to the 300 block of East Blodgett Avenue for a report of a man going door-to-door solicitation bat 9:48 a.m. June 11. The man stated he was soliciting for Kern Heating & Air Conditioning and did not have a village permit. He was issued a verbal warning.

Nuisance

Officer responded to the 400 block of Ravine Avenue for a report of someone ringing the doorbell and running away multiple times at 10:40 p.m. June 17. The officer did not find anyone upon checking the area.

Officer responded to the 100 block of Oak Terrace for a similar report at 9:33 p.m. June 14. The officer did not find anyone upon checking the area.

Criminal Damage

Officer responded to the bridge at Armour Drive and Armour Road where property owner stated five pieces of slate were thrown into the creek from the bridge at 1:47 p.m. June 17. No damage total was available.

Solicitor Complaint

Officer responded to the area of Green Bay Road and Route 176 at 3:01 p.m. June 16 where two female juveniles were trying to sell lemonade to passing vehicles. Officer advised the it was dangerous and against local ordinance. Both subjects went on their way.

Animal Complaint

Officer responded to the 200 block of Lancaster Court for a report of a possibly injured pigeon at 12:48 p.m. June 14. The pigeon was observed on the roof and it didn't appear to be injured. The bird had a blue band on its leg.

Found Property

Crossing guard turned in a blue Aurora Football jacket that was left behind the crossing guard chair June 13. The jacket was placed into found property.

A red, white and silver Trek Gary Fisher bicycle was found June 10 on the bicycle path under Sheridan Road. A Kiddie's sticker was on the bicycle.

Criminal Damage

Officer responded to the 300 block of Hirst Court for damage to a parkway at 9:50 a.m. June 13. The incident occurred sometime between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on June 12-13. A vehicle drove south on Hirst Court and pulled into the driveway, backed up and traveled north and drove over small rocks and the parkway causing approximately $100 in damage. Complainant said the same thing happened June 9, but did not make a report. The damage that tie was minimal.

Added June 21

No Valid Driver's License

Erick Gonzalez-Vazquez, 23, Chicago, was charged with with no valid driver's license at 1:36 a.m. June 19 at the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. He was released on bond pending an Aug. 2 court date in Waukegan.

Animal Bite

A Lake Bluff Postal Carrier was bit by a dog at 3:34 p.m. June 18 in the 400 block of Mawman Avenue. No citation was issued. The incident has been forwarded to the Lake County Health Department.

Theft

Two purses were stolen from Fresenius Medical Center on Waukegan Road at 12:39 p.m. June 11. Both purses were inside a fabric grocery bag in an unsecured employee area. Both purses contained cash and credit cards.

Suspended License, Registration

Maria Ortega, 32, Waukegan, was charged with driving with a suspended license and suspended vehicle registration at 3:57 p.m. June 10 at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Shore Acres. The officer was conducting a radar patrol and conducted a traffic stop on the suspended vehicle registration. Ortega was released on bond pending a July 5 court date in Waukegan.

Illegal Consumption of Alcohol By A Minor/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Benjamin P. Hadesman, 20, Lake Bluff, was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor and possession of drug paraphernalia at 3:20 a.m. June 20 near the intersection of Sanctuary Lane and Atkinson Road. The officer saw two men standing on a corner, and Hadesman was slurring his speech, had glassy, blood-shot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol. He was found to have a diamond grinder, which is used to consume marijuana. He was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an Aug. 2 court date in Waukegan.
