Blotter: Passenger Faces Obstruction Charge; Profanity Spray-Painted on Garage

LAKE BLUFF

Vandalism

Officer responded to the 500 block of Forest Cove for a report of criminal damage to property 3:58 p.m. Jan. 5. The officer observed a PVC "cleanout pipe" was broken and red paint was sprayed on a telephone junction box. The resident said he did not know when or how it happened. Approximate value is $5.

Found Cellphone

A broke iPhone was found at East Center Avenue and brought into the Public Safety Building at 9:45 a.m. Jan. 1. The phone was placed in the Found Property closet.

Criminal Damage

Officer responded to the 600 block of Moffet Road for a report of a homeowner's garage being spray-painted with profanity at 3:02 p.m. Jan. 1. The homeowner said he returned home at 10:30 p.m. the previous night and the garage had not been spray-painted. When his son returned at 1:30 a.m., the garage had been spray-painted with a profanity. His son tried waxing the words off. The estimated cost of repainting the garage is $200.

Found Garment

A resident reported finding a silver garment in the parking lot of the Lake Bluff Train Station at 8:37 p.m. Dec. 27. The item was logged into Found Property.

Missing/Lost/Stolen

A woman left her purse on a shopping cart at the Carriage Way Shopping Center, 201 S. Waukegan Road, and reported it missing at 4:21 p.m. Jan. 7. The imitation Gucci purse contained her driver's license, $80 in cash, credit cards and an iPhone. 

Domestic Battery

Martha Capellar, 47, of Lake Bluff, was charged with domestic battery at 4:55 p.m. Jan. 3 in the 300 block of West Sheridan Place. Capellar pushed her sister and pulled her hair. She was taken to Lake County Jail and held for a bond hearing. No further information was available. Twenty-four hours earlier, Lake Bluff Police had responded twice to domestic disputes between the same two sisters at 6:41 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Jan. 2, respectively. In the first incident, one sister chose not to press charges against the other. In the second, one sister was yelling at the other and bringing up high school things. No one was physically injured in this incident, and each sister was given a domestic violence sheet.

Theft

Eight tires were taken from two vehicles at the Knauz Motors Mercedes-Benz dealership, 409 Skokie Highway, between 5 p.m. Dec. 31 and 8 a.m. Jan. 2. The eight 21-inch, AMG spoke alloy tires were removed from two 2012 Mercedes-Benz SUVs. The vehicles were left sitting on gray-colored car stands. The eight tires are valued at $6,000.

No Valid License

Antonio Aguilar-Martinex, 32, of Zion, was charged with no valid license at 8:49 p.m. Jan. 1 near the intersection of Skokie Highway and Rockland Road. He posted a personal recognizance bond pending a Feb. 7 court date in Park City.

Simon Arias-Nunez, 25, of North Chicago, was charged with improper lane usage, no valid driver's license and no insurance at 8:55 p.m. Dec, 29 near the intersection of Route 176 and Carriage Way. He posted a personal recognizance bond pending a Feb. 7 court date in Park City.

 

LAKE FOREST

Obstructing Justice

Mayra Coronel, 26, North Chicago, was charged with obstructing justice at 2:51 p.m. Jan. 2 near Route 41 and Westleigh Road. Coronel was a passenger in a vehicle involved in a crash driven by a person without a driver's license. She told the officer that she was driving to prevent the actual driver from being arrested. She was assigned to an administrative hearing Feb. 8 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Driving Under the Influence

Alvin M. Pintor, 27, 2570 S. 34th St., Milwaukee, Wis., was charged with driving under the influence, DUI exceeding .08, illegal transportation of alcohol, license suspended or revoked and improper lane use at 2:25 a.m. Jan. 1 at Route 41 near Route 176. Police were alerted to an intoxicated driver and said they observed him committing traffic lane violations. Officers observed an open bottle of alcohol on the front passenger-side floor. Pintor failed field sobriety tests and submitted a breath sample, which indicated a blood-alcohol concentration of .087. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 24 court date in Waukegan.

Leticia Martinez, 46, 2402 Hebron Ave., Zion, was charged with DUI and improper lane use at 12:35 a.m. Dec. 29 near Green Bay Road and Briar Lane. Martinez had driven off the roadway and came to rest on the parkway. She failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit a breath sample when requested. She posted a $100 bond and her driver's license pending a Jan. 24 court date in Waukegan.

Biting/Attacking Dogs

Peter C. Gaddi. 51, N2827 Hidden Valley, Lake Geneva, Wis., was charged with allowing his dog to attack a woman and bite her dog at 4:44 p.m. Dec. 31 in the 800 block of Oak Knoll Drive. The woman and her dog were attacked while out for a walk. Gaddi was assigned to an administrative hearing Feb. 8 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Driving While License Suspended/Revoked

Aaron D. Morales, 35, 1710 Dodge Ave., Evanston, was charged with obstructing justice, driving while license was suspended/revoked and driving with only one tail light at 12:19 a.m. Dec. 27 near Route 41 and Gage Lane. Morales was stopped for driving with only one tail light. He did not have a driver's license and a check through the secretary of state indicated his license was suspended/revoked. Morales admitted to providing a false name and date of birth, and gave the officer a second false name and date of birth. He later was identified through fingerprints and charged with obstructing justice. Morales was held for a bond hearing, and was slated to appear in court Dec. 27 in Waukegan. No further information was available.
