Updated Blotter: Homeowner Asks Police to Pick His Lock

LAKE BLUFF

Suspicious Circumstance

A 17-year-old Lake Bluff teen was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 8:54 p.m. Jan. 21. An officer was on patrol and noticed a black Acura parked in the 500 block of Lakeland Drive. There is no parking allowed on the street. Two other 17-year-old teens from Lake Bluff were also in the vehicle, but were not charged. The teen arrested will be sent to Teen Court.

Suspended License 

Jason Porter, 30, of Waukegan, was charged with driving with a suspended license at 5:02 p.m. Jan. 15 in the 100 block of East Sheridan Place. He posted bond pending a Feb. 7 court date in Park City.

Lock Out

Officer responded to the 300 block of West Washington Avenue to assist a homeowner who had locked himself out of his home at 11:23 a.m. Jan. 28. The homeowner said he believed the police department had a tool to pick the locks of residences. The officer advised the homeowner that private locksmiths could assist with entering the residence.

Suspicious Circumstance

Officer responded to the Lake Bluff Train Depot, 600 N. Sheridan Road, for a report of a brief case sitting on a fence on the west side of the tracks at 3:16 p.m. Jan. 26. The officer met with the man who stated the brief case belonged to him and that he had left it there because he did not want to carry it around while waiting for the train. The officer advised the man to stay with his belongings.

DUI (Driving Under the Influence)

Mattson Douglass, 41, of Lake Forest, was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of improper lane usage at 2:38 p.m. Jan. 22 near the intersection of Rockland Road and Eva Terrace. The officer observed Douglass in a black SUV cross over the double yellow lines twice, once almost hitting an oncoming car. Douglass posted bond pending a Feb. 10 court date in Waukegan.

 

LAKE FOREST

Battery

Robert F. Murphy, 22, 755 N. Oakwood Ave., Lake Forest, and Nicholas Dagostino, 24, 755 N. Oakwood Ave., Lake Forest, were each charged with battery at 1:26 a.m. Jan. 26 in the 700 block of Western Avenue. The two men got into a fight with two other men from Highland Park and Lake Bluff. Dagostino was also arrested on a Lake County warrant for DUI (driving under the influence) and transported to Lake County Jail. Murphy post a $100 personal recognizance bond pending a Feb. 10 court date in Waukegan.

DUI (Driving Under the Influence)

Sotero Gonzalez, 51, 12 Webster Ave., Highwood, was charged with DUI, DUI over. 08, speeding, improper lane usage and improper turn at 1 p.m. Jan. 18 near the intersection of Illinois Road and Western Avenue. Gonzalez was stopped after the officer observed his vehicle 45 mph in a 35 mph zone, make an improper turn and improper lane usage. Gonzalez failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a breath test, which indicated a blood alcohol level of .232. He posted a $100 bond and his Illinois driver's license pending a March 29 court date in Waukegan.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Danielle N. Maher, 20, 1708 S. Washington Ave., Park Ridge, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 8:20 p.m. Jan. 20 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Lake Forest Police were called to Lake Forest College for a report of a female sick in the restroom at the sports complex. She was determined to have consumed alcohol and was under the age of 21. Maher was assigned an administrative hearing Feb. 8 at Lake Forest City Hall.
