Blotter: Teens Caught on Roof at Everett School; Man with Purple Hat Asks for Money

LAKE BLUFF

Suspicious Person

Lake Bluff police received a 911 call from the 1700 block of Shore Acres Road for a report of a white male walking around the house at 10:22 p.m. Dec. 2. While en route, the officers were advised the man was described as wearing a dark jacket and dark knit cap. The homeowner said she was in the family room when she observed the man approximately four feet from her sliding glass door located on the south side of the residence. She and the man made eye contact. He motioned not to call police by taking his hand across his neck in a horizontal waving motion, and then took his hand to his ear that looked like he was using a telephone. Police were called and the man was seen walking down the driveway. The subject put his hands above his head and said, "I don't mean no disrespect," and asked where the Navy base was. The homeowner pointed south, but the man walked north from the driveway. The homeowner thought the subject was intoxicated. Officers searched the area thoroughly but were unable to locate the man. 

Suspicious Circumstance

While on patrol, an officer was waived down by a complainant, who stated there was a suspicious vehicle parked in the 400 block of Thornvalley Lane at 4:21 p.m. Dec. 2. The officer observed the vehicle had no registration displayed. The car had been reported stolen by the Aurora Police Department. Rondout Towing came and removed the vehicle. 

Suspicious Person

Officer responded to the 20 block of East Scranton Avenue for report of a male wearing a purple hat asking children for money at 5:24 p.m. Dec. 2. Officer checked the area thoroughly and was unable to find the person. 

Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Officer responded to the 100 block of East Sheridan Terrace for an activated carbon monoxide detector at 1:43 a.m. Nov. 28. It was determined the unit needed a battery replacement, which the Lake Bluff Fire Department supplied. 

Suspicious Circumstance

Officer responded to the 20 block of Brierfield Court for a damaged mailbox at 10:01 a.m. Nov. 26. The homeowner stated that during the night, someone hit the mailbox with a pipe or baseball bat, causing approximately $75 in damages.

Found Bicycle

The officer located a green and silver colored Schwinn Beach Cruiser bicycle at the northwest corner entrance to the Lake Bluff Train Depot at 12:37 a.m. Nov. 26. The bicycle was entered into the found property book.

Added Dec. 8

Theft

Jose Pineda, 21, of Waukegan, and Francisco Figueroa-Martinez, 21, of Waukegan, were each charged with criminal trespass and theft under at 746 a.m. Dec. 1 in the 500 block of East Prospect Avenue. The two men stole three, 4-foot sections of copper gutter that was located on the west side of a residence and took off in a white Ford Explorer. The homeowner called police and gave a description of the vehicle and the license plate number. Lake Forest Police pulled the vehicle over near the intersection of Oakwood and Westminster avenues, and observed the copper downspouts in the vehicle. Pineda was additionally charged with no valid driver's license and possession of marijuana. They each posted a $150 bond pending a Jan. 3 court date in Waukegan.

A snow plow blade was stolen between noon Nov. 26 and 2:30 p.m. Nov. 27 in the 900 block of Sherwood Drive, and reported at 2:41 Nov. 27. The unsecured red Western Ultra snow blade was sitting behind the building in the northwest corner. The value of the blade is $5,000. The case remains under police investigation.

Identity Theft

An Oak Terrace resident was the victim of identity theft at 7:28 p.m. Nov. 27 after an unauthorized charged occurred on a Visa credit card for $462.36 to purchase two central processing units for computers without the card owner's consent.

No Valid Driver's License

Mauricio Garcia, 32, of Palatine, was charged with speeding and no valid driver's license at 352 p.m. Dec. 2 on Route 41. Garcia's black pickup truck was traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. He posted a personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 3 court date in Park City.

Suspended Driver's License

Adan Guadarrama, 21, of Waukegan, was charged with speeding and driving with a suspended driver's license at 3:04 p.m. Dec. 3 near the intersection of Route 41 and Washington Avenue. Guadarrama's pickup truck was traveling 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. He posted a personal recognizance bond pending a Jan. 3 court date in Park City.

Suspicious Circumstance

An officer observed trash bags on the Sheridan Road bike path at 4:56 p.m. Dec. 1 along with a make shift pup tent, a pair of shoes and a brief case. There were also empty food cans spread around the area. Police were able to narrow down the possibilities of who the person might be, but attempts to find him were unsuccessful.

Criminal Damage

Christmas tree lights were cut and taken from a tree in front of a residence in the 10 block of Warrington Drive at 7:26 a.m. Nov. 26. The incident happened between 6:30 p.m. Nov. 25 and 7:26 a.m. Nov. 26. The two strings of lights are valued at $20 each.

 

LAKE FOREST

Minor Possession of Alcohol

A 17-year-old Mundelein teen was charged with minor possession of alcohol and improper lane usage at 5:20 p.m. Nov. 11 near the intersection of Waukegan Road and Route 60. The teen was stopped for a traffic violation, found to be under the age of 21 and had a bottle of vodka in the car. The teen was assigned to an administrative hearing Dec. 14 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Dog Bite

Lydia F. Grabemann, 50, 255 S. Ridge Road, was charged with allowing her dog to bite a jogger at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 15 near the intersection of Ridge and Westleigh roads. The jogger was bitten on the lower left leg. The dog is a Coton breed. Grabemann was assigned to an administrative hearing Dec. 14 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Clarissa L. Martin, 28, 4103 W. 127th St., Alsip, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to signal at 6 a.m. Nov. 26 near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath. The officer conducted a traffic stop and observed that Martin had slurred speech, blood shot eyes and admitted to consuming alcohol. She failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit a breath sample when requested. He posted $300 bond pending a Dec. 27 court date in Waukegan.

Criminal Damage to Property

A 17-year-old teen from Gurnee caused $100 in damage to an ATM door at 4:35 p.m. Nov. 13 in the 600 block of Westmoreland Road. The teen stated he was frustrated with a bill changed that would not take his dollar bill. He was given a notice to appear in court Dec. 6 at Park City.

Two Lake Forest juveniles, ages 16 and 13, were charged with criminal damage to property at 6:17 p.m. Nov. 18 in the 100 block of Green Bay Road. The juveniles reportedly left the Lake Forest Library and found an autumn display on the way home, smashing 20 pumpkins and tipping over benches, which caused them to break. They were assigned to an administrative hearing Dec. 14 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Trespass to Land

Five 18-year-olds from Lake Forest were charged with trespass to land at 8:20 a.m. Nov. 25 in the 1100 block of Everett School Road. The five teens were on the roof at Everett School. The five teens include: Christian C. Neumeister, 18, 119 E. Laurel Road; James B. Morrow, 18, 1806 Bowling Green Drive; Katherine A. Mass, 18, 475 McCormick Drive; Kathryn A. Kriss, 18, 671 Newcastle Drive, and Johanna S. Foster, 18, 214 W. Sheridan Place. They were assigned to an administrative hearing Jan. 11 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Theft

A 17-year-old Lake Bluff boy was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and theft at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 in the 1200 block of McKinley Road. The teen was found to be in possession of a glass smoking pipe used to ingest marijuana. The same juvenile was sent to teen court for a Sept. 8 theft of $80. Her was found to have committed a subsequent violation of the law, and thus was charged with the original offense and sent to branch court. He posted a $75 bond pending a Dec. 6 court date in Park City.

Unlawful Use of Credit Card, Criminal Trespass to Vehicle

Jared N. Coleman, 36, 775 N. Bank Lane, was charged with unlawful use of credit card and criminal trespass to a vehicle at 9:39 a.m. Nov. 17 in the 1200 block of Burr Oak Road. Coleman knowingly and without authority operated a vehicle belonging to the victim and used the victim's credit card to purchase goods not exceeding $300. Coleman was held for bond court, and was assigned to appear in court on Dec. 18 in Waukegan.

Failure to Appear in Traffic Court, Warrant Arrest

Giovanni Scavo, 61, 2514 Green Bay Road, Highland Park, was charged with failure to appear in traffic court in Stevenson County to pay a traffic ticket at 5:14 p.m. Nov. 23 near the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Scavo was stopped for improper lane usage. He was transported to Lake County Jail and was set to appear in court Nov. 24 in Waukegan. No further information was available.

Felony Driving while License Suspended

Christopher V. Jude, 22, 38413 Creek Court, Beach Park, was charged with speeding and felony driving while license suspended at 3:02 a.m. Nov. 26 near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath. Jude was stopped for traveling 78 mph in a 55 mph zone, and found to have his license suspended. He was held for a bond hearing, and was set to appear in court Nov. 26 in Waukegan. No further information was available.

Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Possession of Marijuana

Sean D. Rose, 22, 61 Yowago Ave., Branford, Conn., was charged with illegal transportation of alcohol and possession of marijuana at 2:23 a.m. Nov. 18 near the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Rose was stopped for erratic speeds and no registration light. He failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a breath test that indicated a blood alcohol concentration of .085. He posted a $300 bond pending a Dec, 27 court date in Waukegan.

Domestic Battery

Andrew A. Vogel, 47, 529 Beverly Place, was charged with domestic battery at 7:27 p.m. Nov. 20 in the 500 block of Beverly Lane. Officers responded to the residents for a disturbance between Vogel and a family member. He used his shoulder to hit the victim's left shoulder, causing her to call onto a desk. He was held for a bond hearing and was slated to appear in court Nov. 21 in Waukegan. No further information was available.
