Blotter: Alleged Thief Prefers Absolut Vodka; Teen Caught with Wrong Cookies

Driving Under the Influence

Porfirio Rodriquez-Gallegos, 33, 117 Golfview Lane, Carpentersville, Ill., was charged with following too closely, driving while license suspended, aggravated driving under the influence, aggravated DUI while license suspended for DUI, and no valid insurance at 10:09 a.m. June 1 near Deerpath and Clover Avenue. Rodriquez-Gallegos was stopped on a charge of following too closely to two juvenile females and was found to have a suspended driver's license. Police said he admitted to drinking three to six beers. Rodriquez-Gallegos failed field sobriety tests and refused to provide a sufficient breath sample upon request. He was sent to bond court pending a June 2 court date in Waukegan. No further information was available. 

Unlawful Use of Intoxicating Compounds

Charles E Mills, 29, 1301 N. Western Ave., Lake Forest, was charged with unlawful use of intoxicating compounds at 1:50 p.m. June 2 near Scott Street and McKinley Road. Mills inhaled a compound to induce a condition of intoxication, authorities said. He posted a $1,500 bond pending a June 19 court date in Waukegan.

Illegal Control of Marijuana

A 13-year-old Lake Forest juvenile was charged with illegal control of marijuana at 10 a.m. May 7 in the 100 block of West Deerpath. The teen possessed cookies, which contained a leafy substance that contained marijuana, police said. He posted a $120 bond pending a July 3 court date in Park City.

Theft

Peter J. Norman, 18, 29659 Bayshore Drive, Lake Bluff, was charged with theft at 8:55 a.m. March 10 in the 1200 block of McKinley Road. Norman gained unauthorized control of one pair of wooden snow shoes belonging to a  student, according to police. He was arrested June 5. Norman posted a $120 bond pending a July 3 court date in Park City.

Retail Theft

William A. Haberland, 53, 499 E. College Road, Lake Forest, was charged with two counts of retail theft from incidents on May 27 and May 28 in the 800 block of North Western Avenue. He took a bottle of Absolut Vodka from a grocery store without paying on two consecutive days, authorities said. Haberland posted a $150 bond pending a June 22 court date in Waukegan.

Suspended Driver's License

Felipe M. Gomez, 24, 3843 Sutherland, Park City, was charged with having a suspended driver's license, no insurance and obstructing justice at 10:19 p.m. May 25 near Route 41 and Westleigh Road. Gomez was reported to be walking in traffic, threw a bottle at a passing motorist and flashed gang signs. He was found to be in possession of not more than 2.5 grams of marijuana. He posted a $120 bond pending a June 13 court date in Waukegan.

Julie Cruz-Dominguez, 38, 549 McAlister Ave., Waukegan, was charged with having a suspended driver's license, no insurance and obstructing justice at 11:19 p.m. May 25 near Route 41 and Gage Lane. Cruz-Dominguez was stopped on charges of driving with a suspended license and no insurance. He provided a false date of birth to avoid prosecution. Cruz-Dominguez posted a $120 bond pending a July 3 court date in Park City.

Theft Under $300

Ashdon G. Bartley, 24, 164 Herley Ave., North Chicago, was charged with theft under $300 at 12:57 p.m. May 23 in the 200 block of East Deerpath. Bartley stole $120 cash from a victim, police said. He posted a $120 bond pending a June 19 court date in Park City.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

A 17-year-old juvenile was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 12:31 a.m. May 27 in the 1300 block of Telegraph Road. Police said the teen consumed an alcoholic beverage and was younger than 21. He was assigned to an administrative hearing June 13 at .

A 16-year-old juvenile was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 12:58 a.m. May 27 in the 1900 block of Oak Knoll Drive. The teen was found passed out under a tree. Police said he had consumed an alcoholic beverage and was younger than 21. He was assigned to an administrative hearing June 13 at .

LAKE BLUFF

Driving Under the Influence

Hector Gomez-Vazquez, 30, of Waukegan, was charged with driving under the influence, DUI over .08, improper lane use, open transportation of alcohol and no insurance at 11:30 p.m. June 2 near Rockland and Green Bay roads. Police said Gomez-Vazquez was seen crossing the double yellow line while driving. After he was pulled over, the officer observed beer cans in the front seat. Gomez-Vazquez posted bond pending a June 22 court date in Waukegan.

Lost/Missing/Stolen

A wallet was reported missing at 9:39 a.m. May 30 in the 29000 block of North Birch Avenue. The wallet last was observed in the vehicle inside the glove compartment. The wallet contained $4 in cash, two MasterCard credit cards, two debit cards, a Social Security card and an Illinois driver's license. No further information was available.

Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol

Two 19-year-olds — one from Kildeer and one from Libertyville — were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol at 8:11 p.m. May 30 in the 500 block of Sunrise Avenue. Several teens were reported walking into Lillian Dells near North and Maple avenues and were observed with a bottle of vodka. The two teens posted bond pending a July 3 court date in Park City.

Criminal Damage

A homeowner in the 400 block of West Sheridan Place reported a small dent in his garage door just above the house number at 8:36 p.m. May 29. A BB gun caused the dent possibly. The damage occurred from May 27 to May 28. The value of the damage was unknown.
