Blotter: Driver May Need to Invest in a GPS; Teen Honest About Alcohol Consumption

LAKE BLUFF

Suspicious Circumstance

Officer observed a vehicle driving in circles, west on Route 176, north on Green Bay Road, east on West Washington Avenue, south on Garfield Avenue, back west on Route 176 and north again on Green Bay Road at 8:35 p.m. Feb. 25. Officer met with the driver, who said he was en route to the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue and was lost. He stated he was going to a friend of a friend's birthday party.

Officer responded to the Lake Bluff Train Depot at 12:47 p.m. Feb. 24 for a vehicle that was left running for several hours. The officer turned off and secured the vehicle, left a crime prevention card advising the owner his keys were at the Public Safety Building. At 6 p.m., the man came to the Public Safety Building to pick up his keys.

Carbon Monoxide Detector

Officer responded to the 700 block of Mawman Avenue for an activated, non-symptomatic carbon monoxide detector at 3:46 p.m. Feb. 23. Knollwood and Lake Bluff fire departments arrived and determined the detector needed a battery change.

Found Bracelet

A broken women's bracelet, gold with multiple colored stones, was handed into the Lake Bluff Village Hall at 12:01 p.m. Feb. 23. The item was logged into found property at the Public Safety Building.

Solicitor Complaint

Officer received a complaint of advertisements being thrown onto the driveways of local residents at 11:55 a.m. Feb. 22. The officer located the subjects at Washington and Rockland avenues. The driver placed his advertisements in a baggie with some landscaping rocks and was throwing them onto the driveways. He was unable to produce a valid solicitor permit, was issued a ticket for soliciting without a permit and given a court date.

LAKE FOREST

Driving under the Influence (DUI)

Marlon F. Fox, 34, 3130 Chandler Lane, Wadsworth, was charged with improper lane usage, driving under the influence (DUI) and DUI over.08 at 2:15 a.m. Feb. 19 near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath. Police responded to a report of a vehicle erratically moving in and out of his lane of traffic. Officer observed the driver cross onto the shoulder of the roadway. Fox failed field sobriety tests and submitted a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol level of .142. He posted a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 13 court date in Waukegan.

Luis Barrera, 20, 1217 S. 16th Ave., Maywood, was charged with improper lane usage, no valid driver's license, operating without insurance and driving under the influence at 4:06 a.m. Feb. 13 near the intersection of Route 41 and Old Elm Road. Lake Forest Police responded to a report of a possible drunk driver. The officer observed the driver cross onto the shoulder several times. Barrera failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit a breath sample. He posted a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 13 court date in Waukegan.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Timothy McCann, 19, 121 Third St., Libertyville, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 1:05 a.m. Feb. 17 near the intersection of Sheridan and Rosemary roads. Officers observed McCann stumbling near the intersection. He appeared to have consumed alcohol and was found to be under the age of 21. When asked if he had consumed alcohol, he responded he had consumed "too much alcohol." McCann was issued a trespass warning from Lake Forest College Security. Lake Forest Police assigned McCann to an administrative hearing March 14 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Criminal Trespass to Residence, Disorderly Conduct

Collin M. LaMeyer, 43, 1811 N. Winnebago St., Rockford, was charged with criminal trespass to residence and disorderly conduct at 2:35 a.m. Feb. 19 in the 1300 block of North Western Avenue. Victims were woken up by LaMeyer pounding on the apartment door. While the resident was on the phone with the police, LaMeyer gained entry into the apartment. He was identified as an ex-boyfriend of the victim. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and stated he just wanted to talk. He posted a $100 bond pending a March 2 court date in Waukegan.

Unlawful Control of Marijuana

Carl D. Bongiovanni, 19, 233 N. Greenwood Ave., and Eric G. Matiasek, 19, 319 N. Lincoln Ave., both of Park Ridge, were each charged with unlawful control of marijuana at 12:26 a.m. Feb. 18 near the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath. Bongiovanni was stopped for traveling 50 mph in a 35 mph zone and operating a vehicle without registration. The two men had in their possession less than 30 grams of marijuana. They each posted a $120 bond pending a March 20 court date in Park City.
