Blotter: Driver Parks to Talk on Cell Phone; Man Missing FOID Card to Possess Firearm

Aggravated Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Joseph Rastovski, 30 E. Scranton Ave., Lake Bluff, was charged with speeding, driving with a revoked driver's license, revoked registration and aggravated DUI on April 23 at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Crab Tree Farm in Lake Bluff. He was initially stopped for traveling 17 mph over the 40 mph speed limit. Rastovski was transported to Lake County Jail. No further information was available.

Theft

A case of motor oil was taken April 27 from the garage of a home in the 29000 block of North Birch Avenue in Lake Bluff. There was no forced entry. No other items were reported taken.

No Valid Driver's License

Socorro Zarate of Park City was charged with driving without a valid driver's license April 28 at the intersection of Skokie Highway and Rockland Road.

Suspicious Circumstance

An officer responded to 900 block of Sherwood Drive for a complaint of a dark colored SUV parked in the parking lot at 910 Sherwood Drive, then left the area and was seen pulling into the parking lot a 999 Sherwood Drive on April 27. Officer made contact with the SUV driver, and observed the driver was in a U.S. Navy uniform and was sharing lunch with his wife, who worked at 925 Sherwood Drive. No other irregularities were observed.

Animal Complaint

Officers responded at the Lake Bluff Train Depot for a report of three horses in the parking lot on April 26. Officers were able to keep the animals on location and the owner was notified. The owner arrived and secured the animals.

Suspicious Circumstance

An officer responded to the 700 block of East Prospect Avenue for a report of an occupied vehicle parked on the street at 9:36 p.m. April 25. Upon arrival, the officer met with the driver and advised him of the complaint. The driver said he had been talking on the phone and did not want to drive at the same time. The subject was sent on his way.

LAKE FOREST

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Carolyn M. Miller, 20, 22 Nelson Way, Mansfield, Mass., was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 1:37 a.m. April 23 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Miller caused bodily harm to a family member by striking them on the arm repeatedly with the edge of her hand. She was released on a $120 personal recognizance bond pending a June 7 court date in Park City.

Domestic Battery

Michael B. Cooper, 74, 533A N. Mayflower Road, Lake Forest, was charged with domestic battery at 11 p.m. April 21 at his home. He caused bodily harm to a family member by striking them on the arm repeatedly with the edge of his hand. He was taken for a bond hearing. No further information was available.

Possession of Firearm Without Required FOID Card

Scott P. Ebelhardt, 43, 1200 Griffith Road, Lake Forest, was charged with possession of firearm without a required FOID card issued by the Department of State Police at 11:20 p.m. April 19  at his home. He knowingly possessed a firearm, a rifle, without possession of a FOID card. He was transported to the hospital for evaluation. His blood alcohol level was .288. The legal limit is .08. He was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond pending a May 6 court date in Waukegan.
