Blotter: Man Caught for Stealing Vehicle from Hospital Parking Lot

Fire Call

Officers responded to the Lillian Dells Ravine for a report of a brush fire at 8:32 p.m. April 7. Officers located the fire along the north side of the ravine across from Mountain Road. Officers used fire extinguishers to contain the fire from reaching the crest of the ravine. The Lake Bluff and Knollwood fire departments responded and were able to fully extinguish the fire. Witnesses said they did not observe anyone leaving the area at the time. The witnesses did say they were in the area earlier in the day and saw several groups. Officers and fire personnel checked the area and could not locate the cause of the fire.

Found Article

An officer was southbound on a bike path and observed three separate electronic components laying in the tree line along the bike path south of the village's north limits at 11:43 a.m. April 7. The items were described as Alpha Technologies Remote Parallel Monitors. The Great Lakes Training Center and Union Pacific Railroad were both contacted to see if the items belonged to either party. They did not. All items were cleared and disposed of at the Public Safety Building.

A resident brought a found wallet into the Public Safety Building at 8:38 a.m. April 7. The wallet was found in the 300 block of East Sheridan Place. Item was logged in.

Suspicious Circumstance

Officers responded to the wooded area along southbound Route 41, south of Route 176, for a report of a tent in the woods at 3:13 p.m. April 7. Officers located a man, who said he was homeless and had been living in the woods for two weeks. The man agreed to leave voluntarily, refused transportation to the PADS shelter and had his own transportation. A voicemail was left for the owner of the vacant property.

An officer responded to the 300 block of West Prospect Avenue for a report of several holes in the resident's garage door and one in the front east window at 3:14 p.m. April 5. The homeowner said he noticed the four holes in the garage door in the beginning of March, but did not notice the one in the window until today. He does not know where the holes are coming from, but believes it could be from a BB gun being used by kids. The homeowner estimated it would cost $1,500 to repair/replace the garage door and $600 to repair the window.

Theft

An officer responded to the 700 block of Mountain Avenue for a reported theft at 9:14 a.m. April 7. Two combination key lock boxes were attached to the fence located on the main driveway on the south side of the property. Both had been broken into and the keys taken. The officer checked the interior and exterior of the property with the property manager and found no irregularities.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Officer responded to the 300 block of Briar Lane to assist the with an activated fire and carbon monoxide alarm at the residence at 8:20 p.m. April 1. The fire alarm was determined to need a battery change, which was provided.

No Valid Driver's License

Saul Cruz, 31, of North Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license, avoiding a traffic control device and no vehicle insurance at 4:45 a.m. April 5 in the 100 block of Carriage Park Lane. Cruz posted a personal recognizance bond pending a May 1 court date in Park City.

Solicitor Complaint/Outstanding Warrant

Cherelle Hardy, 34, of Houston, Texas, was given a written warning for soliciting without a permit at 3:53 p.m. April 3 in the 300 block of Wimbledon Court. She was elling magazines door-to-door for "New Beginnings". When Lake Bluff Police ran her name through the Law Enforcement Automated Data System/National Crime Information Center, Hardy was wanted on a $15,000 warrant for criminal property damage by Naperville (Ill.) Police. Lake Bluff Police arrested Hardy, who was picked up by Naperville Police.

LAKE FOREST

Stolen Vehicle

Nazareth T. Collins, 21, 36261 N. Douglas Terrace, Gurnee, was arrested March 24 on an arrest warrant in the theft of a black 2007 Chrysler 300 out of the parking lot at at 12:14 p.m. Jan. 31. The vehicle, valued in excess of $10,000, was recovered later that day in Lake County. Collins was at the hospital with a group of friends and video surveillance from the hospital parking lot shows him getting into the car alone and driving off. The car was unlocked and the keys were inside. Collins was being held on a $100,000 bond pending a March 24 court date in Waukegan. No further information was available.

Driving Under the Influence

Rebecca Geore, 40, 2301 N. Monticello, Chicago, was charged with open transportation of alcohol, driving under the influence, and DUI blood-alcohol content greater than.08 at 2:48 a.m. March 24 on Route 41 north of Deerpath. Geore was reported to police due to erratic driving. Police located her, and she failed field sobriety tests and submitted a breath sample, which indicated a blood-alcohol content of .189. Geore was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an April 24 court date in Waukegan.

Royce R. Kasbeer, 18, 117 E. Westminster Road, Lake Forest, was charged with failure to signal when required, expired registration, improper display of registration, uninsured vehicle and DUI at 1:05 a.m. March 18 near Westfork and Farm roads. Kasbeer was observed speeding and stopped on multiple traffic violations. He failed field sobriety tests, and refused to submit a breath sample for analysis. He will have his driving privileges suspended for a minimum of one year. Kasbeer posted a $200 fine pending an April 10 court date in Waukegan.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Brent J. Dulude, 20, 4245 137th Ave. NE, Bellevue, Wash., was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 12:55 a.m. April 1 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Security called Lake Forest police for an intoxicated subject. Dulude was found to have consumed alcohol and was younger than 21. He was transported to . Dulude was assigned an administrative hearing May 9 at .

Kiarra M. Hodge, 20, 222 Pond Hollow, St. Charles, Mo., was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 12:50 a.m. April 1 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Security called Lake Forest police for an intoxicated subject. Hodge was found to have consumed alcohol and was younger than 21. She was transported to . Hodge was assigned an administrative hearing May 9 at .
