LAKE FOREST

Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited

Kristina S. Johnson, 21, 2440 N. 41 St., Sheridan, Ill., and Daniella D. Brutman, 21, 555 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, were each charged with drinking alcoholic beverages in Forest Park Beach after the park was closed at 12:30 a.m. July 10. They were drinking alcohol, a beer, and lemonade and rum. They were assigned to an administrative hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 11 at Lake Forest City Hall. 

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Minor Possession, Consumption of Alcohol

Charles Deyoung, 19, 860 Mellody Road, Lake Forest; Joseph A. Iosue, 19, 125 Honeysuckle Road, Lake Forest, and Joshua C. Sirota, 19, 950 Gage Lane, Lake Forest, were each charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 11:20 p.m. July 4 at Deerpath and Golf Lane. The officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana and stopped to question the three teens. They each admitted to drinking alcohol. Deyoung also charged with minor possession of alcohol for having a can of Bud Light. Sirota also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia for having a smoke pipe used to smoke marijuana. Each will attend an administrative hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 10. Sirota also has a 9 a.m. Aug. 17 court date in Park City.

Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Damage to Property

Reed E. Sullivan, 19, 457 E. Wisconsin Ave., Lake Forest, was charged with disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, resisting a peace officer, minor possession of alcohol and minor consumption of alcohol at 9:05 p.m. July 4 at Western Avenue and Ryan Place. Sullivan ran into the street causing a vehicle to stop. He then screamed at the occupants and pounded on the windows, causing the occupants to be alarmed and disturbed. Sullivan kicked the driver-side panel over the tire and driver-side door, causing damage to a vehicle not his own. He ran from police when they arrived and ordered him to stop. He had consumed alcohol and possessed a 12-ounce can of beer. He posted a $120 bond pending a July 22 court date in Waukegan.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Charles Q. Cleveland, 39, 748 Linden Ave., Waukegan, was charged with driving under the influence, open transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage at 5:34 p.m. July 4 at Routes 41 and 60. A motorist called in a possible DUI for a vehicle southbound on Route 41. The officer observed the vehicle being driven half on the shoulder and half in the traffic lane. The driver failed the field sobriety test. The blood test indicated a blood-alcohol level of .228 or above the legal limit of .08. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Cleveland post a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 26 court date in Waukegan.

LAKE BLUFF

Suspicious Circumstance

A vehicle disobeyed a Howe Security guard and drove across Sunset Beach to the north shelter at 11:18 p.m. July 16. The officer met with the driver, who admitted he disobeyed the order but thought he could drive to pick up items from the shelter. The driver agreed to have someone remove the vehicle. Party at the shelter was being cleaned up.

Gas Aroma

An officer detected the aroma of natural gas in the 300 block of West Hawthorne Court at 9:18 p.m. July 16. The gas was coming from a village-owned gas lamp that had burned out. The Lake Bluff Fire Department could not turn the gas off, and Public Works was called to respond.

Mischief

A home in the 600 block of Ravine Drive was egged, landscaping debris was thrown in the yard and a construction horse was placed in the driveway at 8 a.m. July 16. No other damage was reported.

Suspicious Circumstance

An employee of a Lake Bluff restaurant was observed attempting to obtain entry to a police car at 12:12 a.m. July 16. The officer called out to the subject to stop. The man continued to attempt to open the doors of the squad car. The officer told the man to stop again. The man then began to talk toward Artesian Park. The officer ordered the man to stop walking. He continued, and the officer made contact with the man, who was heavily intoxicated. He told the officer he thought it would be funny to sit in a police car. No damage was done to the police car, and the man had a ride home.

Carbon Monoxide Level

An officer responded to the 1700 block of Shore Acres Road to assist Lake Bluff Fire Department due to high levels of carbon monoxide caused by a generator. The residence was evacuated and fans were brought in by the fire department to air out the home.

Found Property

A child's sweater found at the Village Green was brought in by a Lake Bluff resident to the Public Safety Building.

Public Complaint

A complainant stated a neighbor’s tree fell and caused minor damage to his car in the 400 block of East Prospect Avenue at 12:37 p.m. July 12. He approached the neighbor and spoke to the boyfriend, who became verbally abusive, stating he would beat him to a pulp if he ever tried to talk to his girlfriend again. The complainant said he didn't want police to talk to the boyfriend, but the responding officer said it was a good idea. He talked to the girlfriend and the boyfriend was not there. The officer told the girlfriend that if her boyfriend continued to make threats, he would be arrested.

Suspicious Person

An officer responded to the 0 block of Warrington Drive at 9:36 a.m. July 10 for a report of a male sitting in a vehicle, eating and drinking. The officer met with the man's father, who was working at a neighbor's house and he was just waiting for him.

Aggravated Driving Under the Influence, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident

Daniel A. Zuniga, 25, of Zion, was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, a revoked driver's license and aggravated DUI at 4:14 a.m. July 16 on southbound Route 41. Zuniga was seen speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. He rear ended another vehicle causing damage and left the scene of the accident. Zuniga was apprehended with two hours of the accident and arrested. Zuniga's bail was set at $7,500 and he has a status hearing scheduled for July 26 in Waukegan.

Driving Under the Influence, Improper Lane Usage

Pedro Ocote-Tlali, 39, of Milwaukee, Wis., was charged with DUI and improper lane usage at 6:11 a.m. July 10 near the intersection of Route 41 and Sherwood Terrace. He posted a $200 bond pending an Aug. 12 court date in Waukegan.

Theft

A man's blue Trek mountain bike was reported stolen between 8 and 9:45 p.m. July 7 in the 300 block of West Washington Avenue. the bike had been taken from a bike rack. The bike was valued at $300.

A set of golf clubs were stolen sometime between July 2-7 in the 200 block of East Sheridan Place. The golf clubs were removed from a vehicle parked in the driveway. Some clubs were later recovered, leaving four still missing. The monetary value of the remaining clubs was not available. It's possible the theft may have also taken place in another location.

A driver experienced car trouble at 1 a.m. July 3 near the intersection of northbound Route 41 and Gages Lane. He left the vehicle and upon returning at 11 a.m. found it gone. The vehicle was a maroon, 2000 Dodge Durango.

Criminal Damage to Property

A brick was thrown through a window of a business in the 200 block of Waukegan Road sometime between July 2-5. The monetary value of the window was not available.
