Blotter: Neighbors Bicker Over Walnuts; Party Results In Underage Drinking

LAKE BLUFF

No Swimming

Officers conducted a foot patrol at Lillian Dells after being advised that the barricade in place had been removed. Officers located two individuals swimming in the water at Lillian Dells. The individuals stated the barricade already was down before they arrived. The pair was given a verbal warning not to swim there, and the barricade was replaced

Criminal Damage to Property

A vehicle was broken into in the 20 block of East Washington Avenue between 11:30 p.m. Aug. 5 and 9 a.m. Aug. 6. The rear passenger window was broken. Nothing was taken. The estimated repair cost is $200. The officer was unable to process the crime scene because the complainant was cleaning the vehicle when the officer arrived.

Walnut Throwing

Officer responded to the 500 block of East Scranton Avenue for a complaint from the homeowner that her neighbor was throwing walnuts into her back yard. Officer met with the complainant, who said she has had an ongoing dispute with her neighbor regarding walnuts falling from her tree onto her neighbor's property. Officers met with the other homeowner, and she admitted to throwing the walnuts, and agreed to stop. Officers advised that she may trim any part of the three that is hanging over her property line.

Found Property

Two cell phones were found at Center and Sunrise avenues at 6:12 p.m. Aug. 2. The phones were logged into found property at the Public Safety Building.

Apartment Fire

Officers responded to the 500 block of Smith Avenue for an apartment complex on fire. The second floor was filled with heavy smoke. All tenants were evacuated. The source of the fire was in an upstairs apartment where food had been left in the oven and was burning. The building was ventilated.

Carbon Monoxide Detection

An officer responded to the 20 block of East Washington Avenue for an activated carbon monoxide detector. The Lake Bluff Fire Department initially had carbon monoxide readings in the residence, but after ventilating the unit and locking it up again, no readings were detected. The fire department provided a loaner carbon monoxide detector as a fail-safe.

Smashed Planter

A ceramic planter was smashed on the driveway in the 600 block of Garfield Avenue at 9:28 a.m. July 31. The complainant brought in pieces of the planter, but the officer was unable to obtain identifiable prints from the broken planter.

Aug. 8

No Valid Driver's License

Jivaja-Jesus, Cruz, 25, of North Chicago, was charged with no valid driver's license and only one functioning taillight at 3:57 a.m. Aug. 5 near the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Cruz posted a personal recognizance bond pending a Aug. 6 court date in Park City.

Hilario Gonzalez, of Highland Park, was charged with no valid driver's license and speeding at 7:43 p.m. July 31 near the intersection of Route 41 and Lorell. Gonzalez was initially stopped for traveling 78 mph in a 55 mph zone. He was released on bond pending a Sept. 6 court date in Park City.

Missing Bicycle

A silver and Blue Trek Tiburon bicycle was left on the front law of a residence in the 300 block of East Center Avenue on July 14. The bike was missing the next day, but not reported until Aug. 3. Th bike is valued at $600.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Jose Villalon, 28, of North Chicago, was charged with aggrevated DUI, improper lane usage, eluding and fleeing the officer, no valid driver's license, no insurance, possession of marijuana and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon at 2:11 a.m. July 31 near the intersection of Route 137 and Route 41. Villalon was observed driving erratically near the intersection of Route 176 and Shagbark Lane, including driving through a painted yellow median. During the traffic stop, he attempted to elude the officer by taking off in his dark-colored pickup. He also attempted to use metal knuckles and knife during the arrest. He was taken to Lake County bond court for an Aug. 3 appearance. No further information was available.

 

LAKE FOREST

Possession of Marijuana

Rashawn C. Wallace, 21, 2051 E. 69th St., Chicago, was charged with possession of marijuana and solicitation without a permit at 4 p.m. Aug. 1 in the 100 block of Atteridge Road. Wallace was selling magazines door-to-door without a permit. He was found to have less than 2.5 grams of marijuana on him. He was released on a $120 bond pending a Sept. 20 court date in Park City.

Criminal Damage to Property

A large outdoor light fixture was thrown through the front window of a residence in the 400 block of Washington Road at 10:22 p.m. July 31. The approximate value is $800. The homeowners were home at the time, but no one was injured in the incident. No other information was available.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Five individuals were charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 10:25 p.m. July 24 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Each was assigned to an administrative hearing at 9 a.m. Aug. 10. The five included: Ashley L. Hartmann, 20, 110 Dillon Drive, Columbia, Mo.; Davis A. Hegarty, 20, 3261 Stratford Court, Lake Bluff; Zachary J. Moyer, 19, 1010 Meadowbrook Lane, Deerfield; Vanessa B. Godek, 20, 1243 Streamwood Lane, Vernon Hills; and Daniel C. Horvat, 19, 112 Ravine Forest, Lake Bluff. Raymond A. Fullam, 21, 555 Sheridan Road, also was charged with social hosting. Officers had responded to a gathering hosted by Fullam. They found the five individuals to have consumed alcohol and all but Fullam were younger than 21.

Theft

Two cement flowerpots were stolen from the front entryway of a residence in the 1600 block of Yale Court between 9 a.m. July 28 and 5 p.m. July 31. The planters contained soil and flowers at the time of the theft. The approximate value is $200.
