Blotter: Solicitor Returns Money From Sale; Deerpath Golf Course Broken Into

Found Property

A pair of men's reading glasses were found at 12:54 p.m. July 29 at the Lake Bluff Farmer's Market. Item was logged in and kept at the Public Safety Building.

Three dollars cash was turned in at 1:17 p.m. July 29 after being found on the foot bridge between Ravine and Sylvan avenues. The property was logged and kept at the Public Safety Building.

Solicitor Complaint

Officer responded to the 600 block of Mawman Avenue for a solicitor complaint at 6:06 p.m. July 27. The complainant said the solicitor was a male wearing a Sox hat and white shorts who was headed to the Lake Bluff Train Depot. The complainant said he would like his money back. The officer went to the Train Depot and located the man, who said he was soliciting but stopped when he was advised that he needed a permit. He said he only made the one sale. He returned the money and a written warning was issued for soliciting without a permit.

Carbon Monoxide Alarm

Officer responded to the 200 block of East Woodland Road for an activated carbon monoxide detector at 7:05 p.m. July 24. Lake Bluff Fire Department responded. No traces of carbon monoxide were found in the home. The activation was caused by a faulty detector. The fire department gave the homeowner a loaner unit.

Aug. 3 Update

Theft

A Louis Vuitton purse valued at $2,700 plus several hundred dollars in cash and credit cards were stolen out of the trunk of a Ford Focus at 3:49 p.m. July 29 in the 300 block of West Washington Avenue. One of the vehicle's windows was broken to gain access to the trunk.

A four-foot section of copper downspout was stolen from the northeast corner of a residential garage between 8:20 a.m. and 4:15 p.m. July 28 in the 600 block of Ravine Avenue. No value was available on the copper downspout.

Battery

David Yeo, 45, of Lake Bluff, was charged with battery after striking the victim in the right forearm at 8 p.m. July 27 in the 300 block of Shoreacres Road. He posted bond pending a Sept, 6 court date in Waukegan.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Jiltis Dylan, 22, of Mundelein, was charged with improper lane usage and DUI at 5:31 a.m. July 28 near the intersection of Waukegan Road and Sherwood Drive. A driving complaint was phoned into Lake Bluff Police on Dylan's erratic driving on northbound Route 41. During the same traffic stop, Dylan's passenger, Kaitlyn Story, 20, also of Mundelein, was charged with possession of alcohol and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Both Dylan and Story each posted a personal recognizance bond.

Alfredo Moreno, 34, of Chicago, was charged with littering, driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license, no insurance and aggravated DUI at 9:40 a.m. July 25 in the 400 block of Center Avenue. Moreno was observed throwing a beer bottle out the window of his Lincoln Continental while traveling east on Route 176. He was transported to Lake County jail. No further information was available.

No Valid Driver's License

Roberto Dominguez, 46, of Waukegan, was charged with running a red light, no insurance and no valid driver's license at 5:01 p.m. July 25 near the intersection of Waukegan Road and Route 176. An officer received a report from a motorist of Dominguez running a stop light at Waukegan Road and Route 176. Dominguez was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a Sept, 6 court date in Waukegan.

Armando Castro, 24, of Lake Bluff, was charged with speeding and no valid driver's license at 6:01 p.m. July 25 near the intersection of Route 176 west of Skokie Valley Boulevard. Castro was clocked traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 41. He was released on a personal recognizance bond pending a Sept, 6 court date in Waukegan.

Unlawful Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Six Lake Bluff juveniles, three male and three female all under the age of 18, were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor at 9:10 p.m. July 26 in the 400 block of West Hawthorne Court. Officers stopped at the house after receiving a complaint. No further information was available.

 

LAKE FOREST

Theft

An unknown subject took $100 to $120 in cash from a purse sometime between noon July 25 and 1:30 p.m. July 26 in the 200 block of East Illinois Road.

Subject removed a catalytic converter from a 2004 Lexis RX330 while it was parked at the Lake Forest East Train Depot between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. July 21.

Stolen Vehicle

Unknown subjects stole a 1999 Maroon Chevrolet Lumina from the Westminister parking lot next to the Metra East Lake Forest Train Station between 4:45 p.m. July 26 and 7:45 a.m. July 27. Broken glass was found indicating forced entry.

Burglary

Subject forced entry into the Deerpath Golf Course, 500 W. Deerpath, through the East Pro Shop door at 3:47 a.m. July 27. Unknown what is missing at this time.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

James R. Cantrell, 23, 582 Williamsburg Court, Wheeling, was charged with speeding, no driver's license and DUI at 1:29 a.m. July 17 near the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Cantrell was stopped for traveling 75 mph in a 55 mph zone, and the officer observed signs of intoxication. He was transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital after he complained of internal bleeding and dizziness. He was released from the hospital and returned to custody, where he was released after posting a $300 bond pending an Aug. 9 court date in Waukegan.
