Blotter: Street Signs Found In Daughter's Closet After 15 Years; Cement Items Wind Up On Driveway

LAKE FOREST

Drug Possession

Vladimir R. Simeroni, 23, 491 Beverly Place, Lake Forest, was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of a controlled substance at 7:58 p.m. May 20 at the intersection of Westleigh Road and Bluff Edge Drive. A second suspect, Michael K. Schmitz, 23, 1111 Muir Ave., Lake Bluff, was also charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of marijuana. Simeroni was found possession less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine, and a pipe commonly used to inhale a controlled substance. Schmitz was found to have had in his possession not more than 2.5 grams of a green leafy substance containing marijuana, and a water pipe. A scale and prescription medication were also found at the scene. Simeroni attended a bond hearing and was to have attended court on May 21 in Waukegan. No further information was available. Schmitz paid a $150 bond and will appear in court June 8 in Waukegan.

Driving Under the Influence

Michael A. Ballinger, 20, 1401 Williams, Round Lake, Ill., was charged with improper lane usage, driving under the influence and no vehicle insurance following a traffic stop at 2:15 a.m. May 16 at the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. He was stopped for impeding traffic on Route 41 and found to be under the influence of drugs. He failed field sobriety tests and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for blood and urine tests. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a July 12 court date in Waukegan.

Theft

A resident in the 100 block of Sunset Place reported a theft of a 12-foot section of round copper gutter between May 19-22.

LAKE BLUFF

Domestic Disturbance

Kelley E. Kinnucan, 30, of Lake Bluff, was charged with domestic battery at 6 p.m. May 25 in the 29000 block of Environ Circle. Kinnucan was charged with hitting her sister in the mouth during an altercation. She was transported to Lake County Jail. No court or bond information was available.

Deer Accident

A vehicle struck a deer on Sheridan Road in front of Shore Acres Road at 7:20 p.m. May 27. The deer died in front of the entrance to Shore Acres Road.

Found Dog

A female black Labrador was brought into the police station after it was found running at large at 120 E. Scranton Ave. The dog was taken to Knollwood Animal Hospital.

Criminal Trespassing

An officer received a report of a person with red pants that had jumped the fence at the north end of the train station at 12:43 p.m. May 26. The person was located and she said she did jump the fence to reach the other side of the tracks. She was cited for Trespassing on Railroad Property.

Suspicious Person

Officers responded to 103 E. Scranton Ave. on May 25 for two people handing out flyers for Environment Illinois. They were asked if they had a solicitors permit. Neither person had a permit for the non-profit organization. They were issued a verbal warning and informed to apply for a permit at the police station.

Animal Complainant

Officer responded to the 100 block of West Blodgett Avenue for a report of a deer that tried to attack a woman walking her dog at 7:56 a.m. May 24. The officers arrived and observed a deer, who approached officers and then ran off into the woods. The woman said the deer stood up on its hind legs, hissed at her and then ran after them. An officer observed a fawn laying on the north side of the road. A call to Lake County Animal Control noted to leave the fawn there, and the mother will have the fawn leave in about 24 hours.

Mischief

Officer responded to the 20 block of East Scranton Avenue for a report of several juveniles repeatedly ringing doorbells in the 10 block of East North Avenue at 8:36 p.m. May 23. Officer checked the area and the juveniles were gone. Officer spoke with several adults in the area and advised them of the complaint.

Burglary

A wallet was taken from an unlocked vehicle on the passenger front seat between noon and 4 p.m. May 22. The vehicle was parked on East Center Avenue and just east of Moffett Road.

Citizen Assist

A resident brought in several street signs into the police station at 11:03 a.m. May 23. The man said he found them in his adult daughter's closet after approximately 15 years. The street signs are a Yield, Speed Limit 10 MPH Slippery Road, and a STOP sign. The signs were given to the Public Works Department.

Mischief/No Money Loss

Officer responded to the 600 block of Lincoln Avenue where person stated at approximately 2:15 a.m. May 22, someone placed two construction barricades, a cement parking block, and moved several of the homeowner's planters onto his driveway. There were also two statues moved to the front door and a planter moved fro the front porch. There were also two broken beer bottles smashed against the house. The side gate was left open and someone went onto the patio and drank a beer. The empty beer bottle was collected and will be submitted for prints. No permanent damage was done to the property. The homeowner does not suspect anyone.
