LAKE FOREST

Possession of Marijuana

Rachel M. Kaplan, 28, 1633 McCraren, Highland Park, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at 8:30 p.m. Sept. 4 near Old Elm and Ridge roads. Kaplan originally was stopped for speeding. The odor of burnt marijuana led to a consent search and produced marijuana. Kaplan was released on a $100 bond pending a Sept. 20 court date in Park City.

A 17-year-old Lake Forest boy was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 12:54 a.m. Sept. 4 in the 900 block of Old Elm Road. The officer observed the teen running westbound on Old Elm after curfew. He was stopped and questioned, and he said he was younger than 18 and had been drinking. He was provided a ride home and turned over to his mother. He was assigned an administrative hearing Oct. 12 at . 

Andrew G. College, 19, 7200 Gold Ring Terrace, Derwood, Md., and Patrick F. Franco, 19, 38 Ministerial Road, Wakefield, R.I., were each charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 1:34 a.m. Sept. 3 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Officers responded to a report of two underage males who had been drinking on campus. The two were in the military and visiting a friend, who brought them to the . They were each assigned an administrative hearing Oct. 12 at .

Alcoholic Beverage Prohibited

John Salvador, 24, 11 Willow, Wheeling, was charged with having an alcoholic beverage in an area where they were prohibited at 9:57 p.m. Sept. 2 in the 700 block of Forest Park. Officers responded to a report of subjects drinking on the beach hear the volleyball area. Officers observed Salvador holding a water bottle that contained alcohol, which is prohibited at the beach. He was assigned an administrative hearing Oct. 12 at .

Minor Possession of Alcohol/Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Francis J. Rutkowski, 20, 120 Stone Ave., Lake Forest, was charged with minor possession of alcohol, and Joseph S. Dilenschneider, 20, 480 W. Westleigh Ave., Lake Forest, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 4:45 p.m. Sept. 2 at . Officers responded to a report of a subject with a bottle of alcohol. Officers found Rutkowski carrying a half-empty bottle of whiskey. Both men had been drinking the alcohol and both were younger than 21. They were assigned an administrative hearing Oct. 12 at .

Battery, Disorderly Conduct

Karl A. Snyder, 27, 277 E. Park Ave., Lake Forest, was charged with two counts of battery and disorderly conduct at 4:18 p.m. Aug. 29 near Willow Road and Park Avenue. Snyder struck the victim in the head several times with his fists and slammed the victim to the ground, police said. Snyder also struck a second victim in the mouth with his fist, took him to the ground and fell on his leg. He also told the second victim that he was going to kill him. Snyder posted a $150 bond pending a Sept. 19 court date in Waukegan.

Theft

A women's bicycle was reported stolen from the East Train Depot at 10:20 p.m. Sept. 3. The bicycle is royal blue with pink lettering. It has a basket over the back wheel and is valued at $350.

Criminal Damage to Property

A resident reported an unknown subject threw a metal plate into the front window at 5 a.m. Sept. 2 in the 400 block of Woodward Court.

Soliciting Without a Permit

Sonny F. Miller, 24, 702 N. Elmhurst Road, Prospect Heights, was charged with soliciting without a permit and failure to display company name on a commercial vehicle at 4:43 p.m. Sept. 3 in the 900 block of Castlegate Road. Miller was attempting to sell home repairs within the city of Lake Forest without first obtaining a permit. He posted a $120 bond pending a Sept. 20 court date in Park City.

LAKE BLUFF

Sept. 12

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Benjamin Hadesman, 20, of Lake Bluff, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia at 1:14 a.m. Sept. 11 in the 200 block of East Center Avenue. The officer observed Hadesman's car stopped on East Center with the driver's door open and cigarette butts on the street, including one lit. After conducting a traffic stop, a bottle of whiskey and beer were found in the car. He was released on personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 14 court date in Waukegan.

John Bacevicius Jr., 58, of Lake Bluff, was charged with driving under the influence at 5:57 p.m. Aug. 30 near the intersection of Rockland Road and Skokie Valley Highway. The officer observed Bacevicius swerve into the opposite lane of traffic. Upon a search of the car, the officer found a bottle of vodka underneath the passenger seat. He posted a personal recognizance bond pending a Sept. 23 court date in Waukegan.

Theft

Jesus Pesina-Tapia, 28, of Kenosha, Wis., was charged with theft, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and no insurance at 8:46 a.m. Sept. 6 in the 500 block of Prospect Avenue. An officer on motor patrol observed Pesina-Tapia carrying several copper downspouts and place them in the rear of his 1997 Cadillac. He also placed a weedwacker into the car. When the officer searched the vehicle, he found a copper weathervane as well. Pesina-Tapia was held on a $50,000 bond pending a Sept. 12 court date in Waukegan. No further information is available.

A delayed theft report was made at Dominck's, 201 S. Waukegan Road, at 1 p.m. Aug. 31, after someone stole $180 worth of baby formula - both in cans and powdered - on Aug. 25. No charges have been filed.

Consumption of Alcohol by a Minor

Three Lake Bluff teens and one from Lake Forest were charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor at 7:38 p.m. Sept. 4 near the intersection of Mawman and Center avenues. Two of the teens were 16 - one from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff -  and the 17 year old was from Lake Bluff. They were assigned an administrative hearing at Lake Forest City Hall.

No Valid Driver's License

Charles Blair, 26, of Lake Bluff, was charged with driving without a valid driver's license, driving without headlights on and no insurance at 1:27 a.m. Sept. 3 near the intersection of Birch Avenue and Atkinson Road. He posted a personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 4 court date in Park City.

Ofelio Dominguez-Morales, 33, of North Chicago, was charged with driving without a valid driver's license at 5:36 p.m. Aug. 30 near the intersection of Ravine Forest Drive and Sheridan Road. He posted bond pending an Oct. 4 court date in Park City.

Found Article

A resident came to the Public Safety Building at 4:40 p.m. Sept. 10 and said he had been to The Salvation Army Store in Waukegan on Sept. 10 and purchased a beige ITC jacket with "Lake Bluff Police" embroidered on it. He wanted to leave the jacket with the department because he thought an employee at the Police Department should wear it.

An abandoned mountain bike was found near Routes 41 and 176 at 1:10 p.m. Sept. 8. The bike was transported to the Public Safety Building.

A key and a keyless remote were found at East Witchwood and Moffett roads at 4:11 p.m. Sept. 4. They were logged into Found Property at the Public Safety Building.

Suspicious Circumstance

Officers responded to Ravine Forest Drive and Sheridan Road at 10:26 p.m. Sept. 4 for a report of a subject sleeping on the hood of their car. Upon arrival, officers made contact with two females who said they were stargazing. They were sent on their way.
