Blotter: Duo Lure Lake Forest Residents out of House, Accomplice Steals $20,000 in Jewelry

LAKE FOREST

Burglary 

Two Hispanic male suspects lured two Lake Forest residents out of their house in the 1000 block of Mar Lane Drive on the pretense of the topics of real estate and landscaping, while a third unidentified suspect entered the house and stole $20,000 worth of jewelry at 2:04 p.m. Oct. 13. The first suspect was described as 5-foot-6, medium build wearing a jean jacket, while the second suspect was described a 5-foot-6, mid-20s, medium build wearing a white jacket and a white baseball hat. The third suspect was only observed in the vehicle. There is no description.

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Laura E. Bronikowski, 53, 740 Chestnut, Deerfield, was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and criminal damage to government-supported property at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 7 near the intersection of Waukegan and Everett roads. Bronikowski was observed driving on the curb. She was stopped and found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage. She failed field sobriety tests and refused others. She refused to submit to a breath test. Bronikowski was released on a $100 bond and surrendered her Illinois driver's license pending a Nov. 4 court date in Waukegan.

Gladys A. Ayala, 19, 2185 N. Arapahoe, Round Lake Heights, was charged with driving under the influence at 3:29 a.m. Oct. 1 near the intersection of Sheridan Road and McCormick Drive. Officer responded to a traffic complaint and stopped the vehicle driven by Ayala, who failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a breath test. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Ayala was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 25 court date in Waukegan.

Unlawful Use of Credit Card

Helena M. Matthews, 29, 813 Helmholz, Waukegan, was charged with unlawful use of credit card, identity theft and attempt of unlawful use of credit card at 1 p.m. Oct. 6 in the 200 block of West Deerpath. Matthews knowingly obtained gift cards and other retail items with a total value not exceeding $300. She also used personal identification information of another person, giving a name and credit card number. She was remanded to Lake County Jail on a $50,000 bond pending an Oct. 6 court appearance in Waukegan. No further information was available.

Anthony P. Quall, 19, 469 E. Westleigh Road, Lake Forest, was charged with unlawful use of a credit card at 2 a.m. Oct. 8 in the 200 block of West Deerpath. Quall surrendered himself in reference to a class 3 felony arrest warrant. He had obtained unauthorized use of a credit card belonging to another person to purchase drug paraphernalia. He posted a $500 cash bond pending an Oct. 28 court date in Waukegan.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Juvenal Tapia, 20, 5813 S. Troy, Chicago, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 2:14 a.m. Oct. 2 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Tapia was found staggering in a dorm hallway. He was not a student at Lake Forest College. Tapia was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage and was under the age of 21. He was assigned an administrative hearing on Nov. 9 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Alex Yeaney, 19, 555 Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 1:27 a.m. Sept. 25 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. An ambulance was called for Yeaney due to extreme intoxication. He was unable to speak and had vomited on himself. He was found to be under the age of 21 and was transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for treatment. He was assigned an administrative hearing on Oct. 12 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Stefan A. Westberg, 18, 17820 Pond Ridge Circle, Gurnee, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 12:05 a.m. Oct. 7 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. An ambulance was called for Westberg for consumption of alcohol. He had difficulty speaking and could not remember his date of birth. He was found to be under the age of 21, and was transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital for treatment. He was assigned an administrative hearing on Nov. 9 at Lake Forest City Hall.

Esmeralda Rojas, 18, 1316 W. Ohio, Chicago, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 3 a.m. Oct. 9 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. An ambulance was called for Rojas for consumption of alcohol and unknown other drugs. She was found to be under the age of 21 and signed a release. Rojas was assigned an administrative hearing on Nov. 9 at Lake Forest City Hall.

A 16-year-old Lake Forest juvenile was charged with minor consumption of alcohol at 8:10 p.m. Oct. 7 in the 300 block of Granby Road. Officer responded to a report of an underage drinking party. The 16-year-old was found to have consumed an alcoholic beverage while being under the age of 21. He posted a $120 bond pending a Nov. 15 court date in Park City.

 

LAKE BLUFF

Solicitor Complaint

Officer responded to the 200 block of Bradford Court for a solicitor complaint of two females going door-to-door selling magazines at 4:34 p.m. Oct. 14. The officer located the subjects on the walking path between Bradford and Leeds courts and advised them to obtain a village permit. They were issued written warnings. The two women were later seen soliciting in the 200 block of West Sheridan Place at 4:55 p.m. Oct. 14. The complainant said they left the area in a gray van or SUV.

Suspicious Circumstance

Officer observed a disabled vehicle parked on Sunrise Avenue at Mountain Avenue in front of a No Parking sign and fire hydrant at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 12. The driver stated that she was watching the full moon. The officer advised the driver to move her vehicle to a legal parking space, and she said she would.

Found Article

A resident brought in a Razor Scooter found at East Center and Sunrise avenues at 4:39 p.m. Oct. 11.

No Parking Permit

Six tickets were issued for no permit displayed at the Lake Bluff train depot at 11:16 a.m. Oct. 11.

Counterfeit Bill

Officer responded to Panera Bread, 305 S. Waukegan Road, for a counterfeit $10 bill. No suspect information, but bill was used sometime on Oct. 9.

Oct. 20

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Oscar Rodriguez, 30, of Highland Park, was charged with driving under the influence, no driver's license and improper parking in a driveway at 9:05 a.m. Oct. 9 in the 300 block of Belle Foret Drive. Rodriguez had his vehicle halfway parked in the driveway and halfway on the street, causing police to stop to investigate. He was found to be intoxicated. Rodriguez was released on a personal recognizance bond pending an Oct. 28 court date in Waukegan.
