Car Stolen from Police Department, Abandoned at Dealership

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENTS

Police responded to a report of a man lying in the grass at 5:02 p.m. Sept. 16 along Skokie Highway. The man told police he was on his way to Dolton and had stopped to rest. Police took him to the Lake Bluff Train Depot, from which he took a train to Chicago.

An officer responded to a report of a suspicious man approaching juveniles at 5:23 p.m. Sept. 18 on the 100 block of East Scranton Avenue. The witness said a man in a blue car attempted to talk to a girl and then left the area west on East North Avenue toward Sheridan Road. Police broadcasted a lookout and checked the area, but the man and the vehicle were not located.

Police received a report of a GMC Yukon traveling northbound on Route 41 near Knauz with two dog cages attached to the rear bumper at 9:31 p.m. Sept. 21. An officer was unable to locate the vehicle.

Officers observed a person pushing a Dominick’s shopping cart at 9:19 a.m. Sept. 22 along the bike path near Carriage Park Lane. The man told police he had borrowed the cart to transport his belongings to a motel, but did not have permission to take the cart. He returned the cart to the grocery store, where officials did not want to take further action.

An officer responded to a report of a man wearing baggy clothing who appeared intoxicated near Sheridan Road and East Sheridan Road at 11:16 a.m. Sept. 23. The officer found the man walking in the roadway near Lake Forest High School. When the officer approached the man, police said he became belligerent. The man had an active warrant for another area, and Lake Forest police did not file any charges.

THEFT

Police responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle at 10:49 a.m. Sept. 16 at the Knauz BMW dealership. Police determined that vehicle, a white Honda, had been reported stolen from the Winthrop Harbor Police Department. A Winthrop Harbor officer arrived to take possession of the vehicle.
