Driver Denies Spitting, Admits Calling Man 'Chicken'

The following information was supplied by the Lake Forest Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

ALCOHOL

Johnnie M. Johnson, 60, of 406 N. Greenbay Road, Waukegan, was charged with felony counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving on a revoked license at 12:30 a.m. Sept. 8 on the 500 block of south Greenbay Road. Police pulled him over after they said he sweved across lane markers multiple times. A preliminary breath test indicated his blood-alcohol level was .296, police said. His court date was Sept. 20 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

BURGLARY

Three teenagers from Indiana were charged with burglary to motor vehicle and theft at 2:41 a.m. Sept. 8 after a police officer noticed a vehicle with its headlights turned off pulling in and out of driveways in the Middlefork Farms subdivision. The officer stopped the vehicle and discovered multiple stolen items and a small amount of cannabis, according to the police report. Police said the driver, Anthony J. Musice, 18, of 2221 25th St., Fort Wayne, Ind., told detectives “had been driving all three passengers around committing car burglaries.” Also charged were Chase R. Georges, 17, of 6126 Aragon Drive, Fort Wayne, Ind., and William R. Haynie, 17, of 14527 Egrets Court, Fort Wayne, Ind. They were held overnight in jail and taken to bond hearings on Sept. 9. Their court dates are Sept. 30 in the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan. A fourth boy, age 15, was released to a parent and referred to juvenile court.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT

William P. Kowalewski, 65, of 1017 Campbell Court, Lake Bluff, was charged with disorderly conduct at 7:56 p.m. Sept. 9 at the intersection of Route 41 and Route 60. Police said the charge came after they responded to a 911 call from another driver who alleged that Kowalewski spit on him during a dispute. Kowalewski denied spitting, but told police he approached the other driver’s window at a red light to yell at him and call him a chicken. His court date is Oct. 15 at the Lake County Courthouse in Park City.

A 16-year-old Lake Forest boy was charged with disorderly conduct at 6:40 p.m. Sept. 6 at the intersection of Everett and Old Elm after police received a report that a bicyclist was shot with a slingshot from a passing car. His court date is Oct. 9 at City Hall.
