Driver Gets Punched in the Face

ANIMALS

A resident of the 300 block of East Sheridan Road reported seeing a raccoon on her front porch at 10:12 p.m. Sept. 5. An officer scared it away with a capture stick.

An officer responded to a report of a raccoon that would not leave a resident’s front yard at 8:22 a.m. Sept. 1 on the 300 block of Ravine Forest Drive. The raccoon ran into the ravine when the officer tried to capture it with a capture stick.

BATTERY

An officer responded to a report of a battery at 5:16 p.m. Sept. 4 at the intersection of Rockland Road and Skokie Valley Road. The victim told the officer that while he was waiting on westbound Rockland Road to let vehicles exit a business, the driver of an older brown pickup truck behind him exited his car, came up to the victim’s window and punched him in the face. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.

COMPLAINT

A business representative reported Sept. 10 that a customer paid with a check, and then stopped payment on it before it was cashed.

An officer responded to a report that the railroad gates on Route 176 east of Route 41 were going up and down at 2:02 p.m. Sept. 6, and one of the gates had dropped onto a truck. The officer located a small, red light that had been knocked off the gate for westbound traffic. Union Pacific Railroad was contacted and sent an inspector to check the gate.

Police received a complaint about a resident setting up a practice target in her backyard on Sept. 6 on the 200 block of West Blodgett Avenue. An officer contacted the homeowner, who said her 11-year-old child had used the target once for bow and arrow practice. The resident was advised that bows and arrows are prohibited within the village.

CURFEW VIOLATION

Three people were cited for violating beach curfew at 10:07 p.m. Sept. 9 at Lillian Dells. 

FIRE ALARM

Lake Bluff police responded at 12:35 p.m. Sept. 10 to an active fire alarm with the Lake Bluff and Knollwood fire departments. A large amount of smoke was seen coming from an exhaust port on the 700 block of East Blodgett Avenue. The Lake Bluff Fire Department determined the alarm was caused by a faulty backup generator that had begun smoking. No fire was located. 

LOST/FOUND ITEMS

A resident turned in an iPhone that she found on the sidewalk at 11:15 a.m. Sept. 7 at Center and Evanston.

A citizen turned in a debit card on Sept. 6. Police were unable to locate the owner and put the card into evidence at the police department.

A citizen reported losing her purse around 9:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Lake Bluff farmers market. The purse was valued at $20-$30 and contained about $25 cash, credit cards and a driver’s license. An officer checked the area and did not locate the purse. The owner was advised to cancel her credit cards.

A resident reported at 8:27 a.m. Sept. 3 that someone stole her purse from her home while she was gone. An hour later, the resident called to report she had found the purse in her home.

A resident turned in a red iPhone that was found near Walnut Avenue and East North Avenue on Aug. 30.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

The front passenger window of a 2011 Ford Explorer was damaged in multiple places between 3:21-11:30 p.m. Sept. 5 while parked in the Lake Bluff train depot parking lot.
