Grenade-Like Object Puts School on Lockdown
The object found near Lake Forest's Deer Path school was actually an exploded firework.
Deer Path Middle School was put on lock down Friday after a resident reported a suspicious object on the sidewalk nearby, according to a press release from the Lake Forest Police Department.
The item was found at the intersection of Deerpath and Golf a little after noon, and was determined to be “a previously discharged incendiary device designed to look like a grenade,” police said.
It was removed and all school activities and diverted traffic returned normal at 1:20 p.m.
