Lake Bluff Police Blotter: Police Arrest Woman for Retail Theft and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Lake Bluff Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Retail Theft

Shiela Thomas, 53, of McHenry was arrested Thursday for retail theft from Dominick’s, according to Lake Bluff Police reports.

Police received a report from personnel at Dominick’s that Thomas was observed taking items from the store shelves and putting them in her purse. She left without paying, according to the report. When police arrived, they found her in the parking lot. She returned the items and was released on bond.

Bog Bites Woman in Park

A woman walking her dog in Artesian Park received a dog bite while she was trying to keep another animal from attacking her own dog, according to Lake Bluff Police reports

As the woman was walking her dog, another dog being walked by its owner started to bark at the first dog. As the victim grabbed her dog to pull it away, the other canine bit her. She had two puncture marks on her hand, according to the report. No arrests were made and no action was taken against the attacking animal.

Very sad indeed to publish the name of a person who apparently was stealing to survive who was hungry. Pretty slow news day?

There are food pantries and food banks that are designed to help such people. Also food stamps are available for those in need. All this food is given out free of charge. There is no need to break the law to get food.

I sincerely hope that was meant as sarcasm.

Any employee told me she stole a bunch of makeup, not food.

Rejoice, those words come so easily out of your mouth. When was the last time you needed to visit the pantry? Or even donated to one? Pantries are not the horn of plenty as you seem to think. Trying volunteering at one or at a soup kitchen.
