Firefighters from 26 departments responded Tuesday to a house fire on West Laurel Avenue in Lake Forest, where they spent about four hours working to extinguish it. No injuries were reported.

Lake Forest firefighters received a 911 call at 11:28 a.m. from a resident who said her basement was on fire. The resident evacuated the home and firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the lower level of the two-story home.

“Despite sub-zero temperatures, crews were able to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading throughout the structure. The crews remained on the scene for almost four hours chasing hot spots,” according to a statement from the Lake Forest Fire Department.

Damages to the home have not yet been determined.

Wait? What? We have basements in Lake Forest? And sub zero temperatures? Last I check it was 70 outside and never heard if basements in Southern California! Gotta be somewhere else but not sure how this showed up on my patch! Lol

This is the Lake Forest, IL Patch! I'm sure we all wish we were in Southern California right about now!
