Lake Forest House Damaged in Fire

The fire began in the basement of the home the morning of Jan. 28.

Firefighters from 26 departments responded Tuesday to a house fire on West Laurel Avenue in Lake Forest, where they spent about four hours working to extinguish it. No injuries were reported.

Lake Forest firefighters received a 911 call at 11:28 a.m. from a resident who said her basement was on fire. The resident evacuated the home and firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the lower level of the two-story home.

“Despite sub-zero temperatures, crews were able to contain the fire and prevented it from spreading throughout the structure. The crews remained on the scene for almost four hours chasing hot spots,” according to a statement from the Lake Forest Fire Department.
