Lake Forest Police Apprehend Thanksgiving Holiday Thieves

Suspects hit multiple homes in Park Lane Homes subdivision.

 

Two 19-year-old suspects have been charged with one count of attempted residential burglary and two counts of residential burglary after gaining entrance into more than three Lake Forest homes near the intersection of Carroll Road and Symphony Street.

Steve Koopman, 941 Carroll Road, in Lake Forest, and William Stock, 433 Meadow Lane, Libertyville, were also charged with theft over, and possession of stolen property. Koopman was also charged with resisting arrest and obstructing justice.

The two suspects were transported for a bond hearing Saturday in Waukegan, and were remanded to Lake County Jail with a bond set at $500,000.

Lake Forest Deputy Chief of Police Glenn Burmeister said he expects more charges to be filed against the two teens. Residents from the Park Lane Homes subdivision were encouraged to call police if they found items missing from their homes.

Lake Forest Police were called to the neighborhood after a resident's alarm sounded at 4:34 a.m. Nov. 25. An investigation revealed several homes had been hit, according to a press release from Lake Forest Police.

Burmeister said some of the residents were home at the time of the burglary while others were not. He said the items taken ranged from electronics to recreational equipment.

Police are attempting to match up the items from the burglaries with the homes.
