Updated: Lake Forest Student Found Dead in Boston College Dorm Room

Foul play is not suspected, officials say.

Boston Police said the death of Lake Forest High graduate Michael Gannon is being treated as a non-homicide, and reiterated an earlier report that the death showed no signs of foul play.

No other cause was given for his death.

An autopsy is being conducted and results may be released this week, Boston Police said.

There have been more than 100 postings on Gannon's Facebook page from friends.

graduate Michael Gannon was found dead at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in his dormitory room at Boston College, according to a message posted from Patrick Rombalski, vice president of Student Affairs and Boston media outlets.

According to the message, the cause of his death has not yet been determined, but police do not suspect foul play.

According to Boston.com, Gannon, who turned 20 on April 2, was found in his room in Walsh Hall, a dormitory primarily used to house sophomores.

Boston Police say they responded to a call Saturday at 2:31 p.m. at the dorm, located at 150 St. Thomas More Road on the Brighton campus. Police are awaiting an autopsy, which will confirm the manner and cause of death, according to Boston.com.

Boston College Spokesman Jack Dunn said Gannon was remembered at all campus Masses Sunday morning and that counseling services are available for students.

in Lake Forest posted a brief note indicating the public can share thoughts and memories that will be passed onto the family. No services are pending as of Sunday night.

Gannon was enrolled in the Carroll School of Management. His sister, Michelle, is also a senior at Boston College.

Gannon was an all-conference water polo player at LFHS his senior year in 2010 and also team captain. He and teammate Nicholas Pabich were named the team's Most Valuable Players.

In swimming at LFHS, Gannon set a pool- and school-record time in 2010 of 59.23 seconds in the 100-yard breaststroke at the sectional meet hosted by Lake Forest. He also qualified for the State meet in the 200 individual medley.

As a member of the 200 medley relay, Gannon achieved All-America status in July 2010 along with teammates , Colin Rowe, and Mitch Stoehr. He also was selected to the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association of America Academic All-America Team, according to the LFHS website.

He was a member of the Boston College men's swim team his freshman year.

According to his Facebook page, Gannon worked as a lifeguard at the Onwentsia Club.

Messages have been posted on his Facebook page from many people expressing their sadness over his passing.
