Lake Forest to Hold Citizen's Police Academy

On Sept. 18th, 2013,the Lake Forest Police Department will conduct its 20th session of our Citizens Police Academy.

The program is designed to promote and enhance citizen understanding and awareness of the role ofthe Lake Forest Police Department within our community.

The objective of the course is not to prepare graduatesto become police officers, but instead, to instill in citizens a greater general knowledge of the many functions of LFPD. Over twenty topics are covered in the class, including hiring and training of officers, dispatching, patrol, DUI enforcementand traffic enforcement, administration ofthe department, investigations and youth, crime prevention andmuchmore. Inaddition,students have the option of riding with an officer on patrol and firing departmentissued handguns and rifles in our in-door range.
