Lake Forest Ward Officers Immersed in Community

Ward liaison officers want residents to get to know them.

The Lake Forest Police Department has two new ward officers who plan to forge a personal relationship with residents so they feel comfortable approaching them about anything of concern, reported the Lake Forester.

Officer Wendy Dumont, who has been with the department for 14 years, will serve Wards 1 and 2, while Ben Grum, a Lake Forest police officer of six years, will serve Wards 3 and 4, according to the story. The officers have been making their presence known to residents by attending ward meetings and community forums and events.

Services provided by ward liaisons, according to the department, include:

  • Attending ward meetings
  • Attending community events and meetings
  • Fielding non-emergency police or law related questions
  • Educating the community on juvenile law, identity theft, and internet scams
  • Being a point of contact for community issues such as parking, traffic, and  noise complaints
  • Informing the community on various programs offered through the police department
