Lake Forest Woman Charged with Endangering Life of a Child

Illegal control of cannabis

On March 2, officers responded to Lake Forest College, Blackstone Hall, for a complaint of someone smoking marijuana there. They located Tyler J. Nickson, 18, of Oak Park, with a small amount of cannabis. He was cited for Illegal Control of Cannabis.

Driving under the influence of alcohol

On Feb. 27, an officer on patrol spotted Alexander Cruz, 29, of Chicago, driving southbound in the northbound lanes of Route 41 at Old Elm Road. He was able to stop Cruz before he reached the intersection atHalf Day Road. Cruz exhibited a strong odor of alcohol and admitted to drinking. A strong odor of marijuana led to officers locating cannabis in Cruz’s car. He later failed three filed sobriety tests and was charged with Driving Under the Influence. Because he failed to complete all chemical tests required, Cruz’s driver’s license will be suspended for a minimumof 12 months.

Endangering the life of a child

On Feb. 25 at 2:20 p.m., officers responded to a home in the 900 block of Goldenrod for a burglar alarm. They found an open door and checked the interior ofthe home, locating a two‐year old boy who had been left home alone and had set off the alarm by opening the door. Officers and Detectives later spoke with Ilona A. Wozniak, 32, the child’s mother, who admitted leaving the boy home asleep while she ran errands for approximately an hour. On March 4,Wozniak was taken into custody and charged with endangering the life of a child. She was processed and released with a March 20 court date.
