Updated: Lake Forest Woman Identified from Lake Michigan Drowning

No signs of foul play; toxicology results pending.

The 44-year-old Lake Forest woman pulled from Lake Michigan Sunday morning following a seven-hour search has been identified as Victoria Kut.

Kut, a resident in the 1200 block of Windwood Drive, drowned in Lake Michigan, according to Lake County Coroner Artis Yancy. Kut was reported missing at 3 a.m. Sunday by her husband, who called after discovering she was not at home. At 10:15 a.m., a U.S. Coast Guard Helicopter spotted her body floating about two miles east of Forest Park Beach.

Yancy said there was nothing unusual about Kut's body, no signs of trauma or foul play. He indicated a toxicology report is still pending and could take up to a couple of weeks for results.

Lake Forest Police are continuing to investigate, calling it a "death investigation," according to Lake Forest Deputy Chief Glenn Burmeister.

"There is evidence that it might be a suicide," Burmeister said Tuesday, "but we're keeping an open mind."

According to an online search, Kut was an oncologist who has practiced on the North Shore since 1997, according to www.lakeshoreoncologist.com. Her office was at Lake Shore Oncology/Hematology in Libertyville and another in Lake Forest.

Dr. Kut received her medical degree at the University of Malta followed by internship and residency training at University of Illinois at Chicago. She completed her fellowship training in oncology/hematology and geriatrics at Northwestern University, Feinberg School of Medicine.

I am just devastated by her death. I have been seeing Dr Kut for the past year and a half, seeing her several times a month. She was genuinely sincere, caring and very knowledgeable. I still cannot wrap my head around how this happened. We have lost an outstanding doctor and woman. Thoughts and prayers for her family, friends, patients and staff.

My sister had Dr. Kut as her doctor after breast cancer and went to see her for routine checkups. She will sorrelly missed for all past, current and would have been patients who have/had her as their doctor.

I met Dr. Kut in February 2009, and she was my doctor, and even more, helping me cope with my cancer, the treatment and the pain from the whole ordeal, which is a physical and mostly emotional trauma. I continued to receive treatment from her since then, and her death is a horror for me. I can't believe she is dead! Seh was genuine, sincere, caring and very knowledgeable. Something tells me we are going to find out more about this, she was always with a smile on her face and brightened my life!

Dr. Kut has been treating my mother for about 2 years. She was a remarkable human being. Caring and brilliant can only begin to describe her extraordinary treatment of all her patients. No matter how busy she was, she would answer questions, sit with her patient and genuinely cared how they were doing. Her laugh was incredible. Not many doctors with her abilities would hold their patient's hand while assessing them. I know she is an angel! Our prayers will be with her family. What a loss for all.

Amy Arnieri said it best: "No matter how busy she was, she would answer questions, sit sit with her patient and genuinely cared how they were doing. Her laugh was incredible. Not many doctors with her abilities would hold their patient's hand while assessing them." Dr. Kut has been my oncologist and my emotional support for over a year and a half and I will miss her terribly. My heart hurts for her and her family.

Dr. Victoria Kut was the best DR I have ever had the honor to know. I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS WAS A SUICIDE! I WILL NOT BELIEVE THAT! My sister in law searched and saw 8 DRs to replace her....there is NO ONE to be found. IF WE FIND ONE HALF AS GOOD AS HER WE WILL BE LUCKY. One fact is for sure...there was no one as caring and loving to her patients as she was. Rest in Peace Dr. Kut......For you will greatly be missed. We love you...may angels wrap their loving arms around you.
