Landscaper's Son Reports Cougar Sighting in Lake Bluff

Described as bigger than the family dog.

An officer responded to the 300 block of Wimbledon Court at 1:30 p.m. May 5 for a report of landscaper who observed an animal run into the woods that looked like a cougar.

The officer met with the landscaper, who said his son was cutting the grass in the backyard of a house and heard a loud growl, and when he turned he observed a large animal jump into the trees and run toward the railroad tracks.

The animal was described as having a long tail about three feet long with short hair, and curled at the end. The body was larger than the family dog that weighed 120 pounds.

The officer checked the area, but found no signs of a cougar.
