Many suburban fire departments are not always equipped to handle every situation so they cooperate with one another to protect the citizens of their communities, according to Lake Forest Fire Department spokesperson Chris Garrison.
A prime example of this is the specialized rescue team which is trained to handle emergency situations like hazardous materials, dive rescue, structural collapse, trench rescue, confined space, high angle, wildland firefighting and side scan sonar, according to a release from the Lake Forest Fire Department.
Firefighters from Lake Forest and Lake Bluff welcomed colleagues from Lake and McHenry Counties Tuesday through Thursday for specialized rescue team training at the Central Lake County Joint Action Water Agency in Lake Bluff.
