Man Arrested at BMW Championship Faces Felony Charge

An original charge of attempted obstruction of justice has been upgraded to a felony charge of unlawful use of a weapon, according to the Daily Herald.

The man who was arrested after bringing a concealed gun to the BWM Championship in Lake Forest last month is now facing a felony charge, according to the Daily Herald

Mark T. Fedder, 48, arrived to volunteer at the golf event, the Daily Herald reported. He is a former Indiana police officer, and he routinely carries a gun in that state, according to the newspaper.

The charge was upgraded by the Lake County State’s Attorney’s office because Fedder did not have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, the newspaper reported.

Lake Forest police recovered two other firearms from Fedder’s vehicle on Sept. 16, the department said last month. The incident prompted the temporary shutdown of the remote parking lot and closed a portion of Riverwoods Road for two hours during the investigation.
