Man Charged with DUI During Visit to Police Station

ALCOHOL
Sarah M. Soto, 32, of 181 Georgia Ave., Great Lakes, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering the life of a child and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident at 1:52 a.m. Dec. 13 on Route 43 at Route 176. Police said Soto struck a Lake Bluff police car from behind and continued southbound on Route 43 until she was stopped by a Lake Forest officer. Police said Soto had left her two children, ages 10 and 4, alone in a hotel room in North Chicago. She was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Jan. 14 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.
Michael W. Canaan, 54, of 2545 W. Catalpa, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:48 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Lake Forest Police Department after police said he drove there to pick up someone else who had been arrested. Police said Canaan exhibited a strong odor of alcohol, has slurred speech and appeared confused. An officer found an open container of alcohol in his vehicle. He was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Jan. 28 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Scott D. Ward, 54, of 1820 100th Ave, Kenosha, Wis., was charged with driving under the influence at 11:14 p.m. Dec. 7 on the 400 block of south Red Fox Lane. Police responding to a report of a possibly unconscious person in a parked car said they found Ward asleep inside. They said Ward could not explain where he was and that he failued field sobriety tests. He was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Jan. 28 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.
Charles J DeYoung, 21, of 860 Mellody Road, Lake Forest, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:57 a.m. Nov. 28 on the 300 block of Ahwahnee Road after police responded to a report of a vehicle that struck a tree. Police said DeYoung admitted to drinking and that he failed field sobriety tests. He was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Jan. 14 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A 16-year-old Lake Bluff boy was charged with disorderly conduct at 12:35 p.m. Dec. 10 after police received a report of a car driving near Lake Forest College with a juvenile learning out the window, screaming at students and staff. The boy admitted his involvement to police. He was assigned an administrative hearing Jan. 8 at City Hall.
