Man Charged with Stealing Vodka, Carrying Drug Paraphernalia

CURFEW

A 16-year-old Lake Forest boy was cited for curfew violation and a graduated driver’s license at 1:27 a.m. Oct. 27 on Sheridan Road at Woodland after police stopped him for driving without headlights. Four male passengers from Lake Forest — three 15-year-olds and a 17-year-old — were also cited for curfew violation.

THEFT

Vilem D. Sustik, 43, of 3001 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, was charged with felony retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia at 11:37 a.m. Oct. 27 on the 800 block of North Western. Police responded to a grocery store on that street for a report of a suspected shoplifter fleeing the store. When they located Sustik on the bike path, he was in possession of two bottles of vodka that he admitted to police he had stolen from the store. Police said they also located multiple hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia on Sustik. He had a bond hearing the next day and was remanded to jail on a $25,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Oct. 31 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Alexis Hernandez, 18, of 4202 11th St., Winthrop Harbor, was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and driving without a valid license at 12:29 a.m. Nov. 2 on Route 41 at Westleigh. Police said they stopped Hernandez for driving without taillights and found him in possession of a switchblade knife. He was released on a $1,500 bond and given a Nov. 19 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Park City.
