Nanny Charged with Stealing Lake Forest Resident's Credit Card

Identity Theft

On 7/31/13, detectives arrested Julie A. Amos, 47, of Libertyville, for identity theft, forgery and unlawful use of a credit card, all felonies, after investigating a complaint received from a resident on July 19. The complaint alleged that Amos, the victim’s former nanny, used the victim’s credit card to charge numerous purchases throughout Lake County and with online vendors. More than $6,500 in unauthorized purchases had been verified by detectives by 7/31/13. Amos was processed and transported to Lake County Jail for a bond hearing. She was released on bond with an August court date.

Warrant arrest

July 31: Police responded to a report of a subject shoplifting food from a grocery store in the 800 block of Western Avenue. Officers located Charles E. Mills, 30, of Lake Forest, with a sandwich he admitted to stealing from the store. The store declined to press charges and Mills was arrested on a warrant for failing to appear in court on an unrelated charge.He was transported to Lake County Jail.

Possession of drug paraphernalia 

July 31: An officer stopped Isabella A. Nottoli, 18, of Lake Forest, for speeding on Westleigh Road. He located a glass pipe with a small amount of cannabis inside her car. She was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and has an August court date.

Residential burglary

July 30: A homeowner returned home to find several rooms of her house ransacked. The house was entered by breaking out abasement window. Taken were two tablets, jewelry, cash and a watch. Anyone with information please contact Commander Tim Gehring at GehringT@cityoflakeforest.com or 847.810.3813.

July 30: A homeowner in the 100 block of Pembroke was home and heard someone walking around her house. Two suspects, both described as black males, fled the residence after being confronted by the homeowner. Taken were cash and a watch.
