Ninety Minutes, Five Vehicle Break-ins in Lake Forest

A burglar or burglars struck five vehicles over a 90-minute period Friday afternoon, June 1, in , resulting in lost cash, credit cards, driver's licenses and golf balls, according to .

The first call came at 4:17 p.m. when three secured vehicles were broken into in the Fort Sheridan train parking lot at Old Elm Road and Western Avenue. A rock from the railroad tracks was used to smash the side windows of three vehicles: a 2003 Volkswagen, a 2012 Subaru and a 2002 BMW. Nothing had been reported missing as of Tuesday, according to Lake Forest Deputy Chief Glenn Burmeister.

That wasn't true in the second case. At 5:27 p.m., police received another call from the Onwentsia Club, 300 N. Green Bay Road, where a Saturn Outback's front-passenger window was broken. The culprit took $150 in cash in the car's center console and three boxes of golf balls.

The last case occurred at 5:43 p.m. at West Park, Green Bay Road and Woodland Road, where two high school girls had a wallet and purse taken. Their Buick sport utility vehicle was unlocked, and they estimated the theft took place between 5:05 and 5:25 p.m. One victim lost $180 in cash, a driver's license and credit cards, while the second lost $90 in cash, her driver's license, credit cards and high school ID.

Burmeister said no arrests have been made, and there at no suspects in any of the vehicle burglaries.
