North Shore DUI Roundup: Jan. 4-10 Edition

DUI arrests as published in North Shore Patch sites in the past week.

NORTHFIELD

On Jan. 4, an officer saw a vehicle in a snowdrift with its lights on and engine running, according to police. The driver was unresponsive and the officer saw open alcohol in the car's passenger seat, police say. The officers arrested the driver, Christian S. Rayner, 36, of Engleside, for DUI of .296, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage, according to police.

DEERFIELD

Weston Riesche, 24, of Chicago was arrested Jan. 2 for driving under the influence (drugs), failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving with a suspended driver’s license, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to Deerfield Police reports.

Responding to a report of a crash near the intersection of Corporate Drive and Lake Cook Road, police learned Riesche hit the car in front of him. While questioning him, police detected a strong odor of cannabis and a search turned up drug paraphernalia. A records search showed his license was suspended. He was released on bond and is scheduled to appear in Lake County Court at 9 a.m. Jan. 15 in Waukegan.

EVANSTON

Edward Crabbe, of the 9200 block of Springfield Avenue in Evanston, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence after he crashed his car into a parked public works vehicle at Central Street and Bennett Avenue around midnight Tuesday, Jan. 7, according to police.

GLENVIEW

Timothy M. Jones, 22, of the 17700 block of Oakley Avenue in Lansing, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and illegal transport of an open container of alcohol at 4:15 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, at Goldenrod Lane and Violet Street, police reported.

BUFFALO GROVE

Erdem Aras, 30, of the 900 block of Sterling, Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence and a driver’s license violation at 12:48 a.m. Jan. 4 on White Pine at Hapsfield.

Robert L. Taylor, 64, of the 400 block of Aurora, Vernon Hills, was charged with driving under the influence, driving with a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit and driving too fast for conditions at 12:46 a.m. Jan. 5 on Buffalo Grove Road at Main Street.

NILES

Robert A. Perez, 43, of Niles was charged with a Class 4 felony count of DUI and a Class 4 felony count of Aggravated DUI after Niles police stopped him Dec. 29 just after midnight for making a left turn from the right lane of Milwaukee Avenue, they said. His driver's license is suspended, according to the report.

MORTON GROVE

Batbaatar Gotov, 41, of Chicago, was stopped for traffic violations Dec. 29 in the 6300 block of Dempster, police said, and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Court date is scheduled for 01/21/14.

LAKE FOREST

Theresa S. Jones, 40, of 332 Leith Ave., Waukegan, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 12:06 a.m. Dec. 28 on Route 41 at Gage Lane after an officer stopped her for improper lane use. Police said Jones exhibited a strong odor of alcohol, admitted to drinking and failed three field sobriety tests. The officer also found an open alcohol container in her car. Jones was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Feb. 11 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Jeleeza Moncivaiz, 20, of 1229 Central Ave., Highland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs at 6:17 p.m. Dec. 30 on Route 60 at Saunders Road after police said she struck another vehicle from behind. Police said they smelled burnt cannabis and located cannabis in Moncivaiz’s vehicle. She admitted to police that she had smoked it prior to the crash, police said. Her court date is Jan. 28 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

SKOKIE

Giles, Huber, 35, 1909 Foster Street, Evanston, was arrested on charges of Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol on the 10000 block of Skokie Boulevard, on 12/29/2013.
