Passenger Falls Asleep, Cabbie Calls Police

ALCOHOL 

Police responded to a report of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road at 9:08 p.m. Sept. 18 on the 500 block of Forest Cove. An officer found the vehicle’s left tires nearly touching the center line. The officer located the driver, who admitted having a few drinks and agreed not to drive that evening and to have a friend move the vehicle. The owner was issued a parking citation and the vehicle was moved to the driveway.

A complainant reported that a person driving a green Cadillac was “driving all over the road” while texting at 4:28 p.m. Sept. 23. Police were unable to catch up to the vehicle and notified the North Chicago Police Department.

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive passenger in a taxi at 6:49 a.m. Sept. 22 on Skokie Highway and Rockland Road. Officers met with the passenger, who stated that he had just fallen asleep. He paid the fare and accepted a ride from police to his home.

FIRE ALARM

Police and firefighters responded to an activated fire alarm at 10:33 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Lake Bluff Library. Officers evacuated the building and determined there was a service problem with the blower in the furnace room.

LOCKOUT

Police assisted a resident who locked her keys and her infant inside her vehicle at 8:55 a.m. Sept. 18 on the 200 block of Green Bay Road.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Police said a vehicle sustained minor damage after a driver ran over a medium-sized landscaping rock at 9:17 p.m. Sept. 21 near Mawman and West Scranton avenues. Officers were able to remove the rock from under the vehicle. The rock was returned to its owner, who was advised of the incident.

A resident of the 1900 block of Shoreacres Road reported Sept. 22 that someone cut his cable line sometime over the course of the previous two days.
