Police Avoid an Arrest, Show Compassion
The following arrest information was supplied by the Lake Bluff Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
After a little investigation, Lake Bluff Police Officer Lisa Davidson helped get a 17-year-old Chicago girl home June 24 rather than placing her under arrest, according to Lake Bluff Police reports.
Davidson was called to the Lake Bluff Metra Station to help railroad officials remove a teen from the train who refused to pay her fare, according to the report. Davidson learned the person was not unwilling but $3 short. Davidson gave her the $3 necessary to get home.
“This is not an unusual occurrence for our officers,” Deputy Lake Bluff Police Chief David Belmonte said. “Often we will find someone who is short money and trying to get home. Many times our officers will assist someone with a few dollars to get them where they are going. It’s a small price to pay to just give someone a little help when they need it the most.”
