Police Blotter: Counterfeit $100 Bills, Arrests at Dance

Counterfeit $100 bill

Police responded to a report on March 12 of a counterfeit $100 bill that was used to purchase a photo frame on the 200 block of Westminster. The victim was suspicious of the bill’s look and texture and called police. The Lake Forest/Lake Bluff Chamber of Commerce was contacted by another store merchant who also received a counterfeit $100 bill, which prompted the Chamber to send out an alert to all the Chamber members. According to the police report, the suspect was a white male, heavy build, with grey hair, approximately late 50s or early 60s.

DUI

On March 16, at 9:53 p.m., officers responded to a call for a vehicle stuck in a ditch. The officer located the vehicle on the 500 block of Mill and determined the driver had been drinking. The driver failed field sobriety tests and a breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of .274. Michael E. McGlynn, 41, 353 Park Ln., Lake Bluff was charged with improper backing, DUI, and DUI over.08. He was released on a $300 bond and his drivers license with an April 1 court date.

Dance Leads to Arrests

Police responded to a call of intoxicated subjects at a dance on the 500 block of Sheridan at 1:14 a.m., March 20. A female under 21 was found intoxicated and transported to Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. Carolyn Miller, 20 or Mansfield, MA, was charged with minor consumption of alcohol and has a hearing at City Hall on April 13.

While police and ambulance were responding, a friend of one of the victims caused a disturbance which interfered with the paramedics and police performing their duties. Yuriy Kulagin, 25, 459 Raphael Ave., Buffalo Grove, was charged with obstructing a peace officer. He was released on a $120 bond with a May 3 court date.
