Phone Scam

A Lake Bluff resident received a phone call from Texas stating their grandson had been arrested for transporting open alcohol after attending a wedding in Lancaster, Texas. The caller, who identified the grandson by name, asked for $2,600 in bail money to be wired.  They went ahead and wired the money to the caller, who was not their grandson. They called their grandson later and he said he had never been to a wedding in Texas and was at home in Connecticut at the time of the phone call. Lake Bluff Police contacted police in Lancaster, but they had no arrest record for the name given by the caller.
