Reports from Feb. 12-20

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff Police Departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

LAKE BLUFF

Suspicious Person

An officer observed a male exit a vehicle at 10:15 p.m. Feb. 19 on Sunrise at Center and start to walk down toward the beach, while the vehicle drove away. Officer met with the juvenile, who said he was going down to urinate and was unsure why his friends left. Officer located the vehicle and the driver agreed to return and pick up their friend.

Theft

Resident in the 100 block of Moffett reported on Feb. 18 that 2, 10-foot lengths of copper downspouts had been taken Feb. 17.  No loss value available. A second resident in the 100 block of Moffett also reported Feb. 18 of the theft of copper downspouts. The resident told police the downspouts could have been taken in the last week. The approximate value is $1,000 to replace. These two cases make five reported thefts of copper downspouts since Feb. 5.

Suspicious Person

An officer responded to the area of Prospect Avenue and Sunrise Avenue Feb. 18 for a report of a male black talking to himself and carrying a bottle. Officer located the subject in front of Union Church, and learned the subject was talking on his Bluetooth and carrying a fruit juice bottle.

Stray Dog

An officer impounded a stray male Samoyed dog with a red collar found in the 300 block of East Sheridan Road Feb. 17.

Faulty Smoke Detector

An officer responded to the 500 block of Pine Court Feb. 17 for a report of a suspicious noise. The noise was determined to come from a faulty smoke detector. The batteries were changed and the detector returned to proper working order.

Suspicious Person

An officer responded to the intersection of Sheridan Road and East Woodland Road Feb. 12 for a report of a person walking on the roadway with a red face. The officer checked the area and the subject was gone on arrival.

No Valid Driver's License

Carlos R. Pech-Chi, 1035 Yeoman St., Waukegan, was charged with no valid driver's license, improper lane usage and an uninsured vehicle Feb. 14 at the intersection of Rockland Road and Eva Terrace. The driver had been observed crossing the double yellow line.

Outstanding Warrant

Christopher B. Reese, 5220 S. Sangamon St., Chicago, was arrested on an outstanding warrant in Wilmette for not appearing in court Feb. 18. Reese was inside a vehicle at the intersection of Sheridan Road and East Washington Avenue, backed up at a high rate of speed, stopped and then bailed out of the car on foot. He was found hiding underneath a stairwell at an apartment complex at 16 E. Washington Ave.

Suspended Driver's License

Dandre Morton, 2336 Wright Ave., North Chicago, was charged with driving without headlights and a suspended driver's license Feb. 19 at the intersection of Route 41 and the Full Moon Family Restaurant. The officer conducted a traffic stop after Morton was seen traveling southbound on Route 41 without his headlights on.

Driving While License Revoked, Speeding

Anibal Soberanes, 1720 Gold Road, Waukegan, was charged with driving while his license was revoked and speeding at the intersection of Route 41 and West Washington Avenue. The officer conducted a traffic stop after Soberanes was observed traveling at a high rate of speed, 18 miles per hour over the speed limit.

LAKE FOREST

Driving Under the Influence (DUI)

Benny A. Bahena, 22, 31 Washington Blvd., Mundelein, was charged with improper lane usage, driving while license suspended, no insurance and DUI for alcohol and drugs Feb. 12 at the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Officers found a single-vehicle rollover crash that Bahena had been driving. Multiple beer cans were observed in and around the vehicle. Bahena was transported to Lake Forest Hospital where he submitted to blood and urine tests. The DUI kit was submitted to the lab for analysis. He admitted to snorting cocaine and drinking alcohol. He was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a March 4 court date.

Monique I. Galeano, 28, 3120 W. Grandville, Apt. 108, Waukegan, was charged with improper lane usage, no insurance, a DUI over .08 and illegal transportation of alcohol Feb. 12 at the intersection of Routes 41 and 176. Galeano was observed driving erratically. The vehicle was observed driving over the lane and shoulder markings. Officers observed open wine and rum bottles in the back seat. Galeano failed sobriety tests and submitted a breath sample indicating a blood alcohol concentration of .141. She was released on a $100 bond and surrendered her Illinois driver's license pending a March 4 court date.

Dawn M. Werley, 20, 1941 Cranbrook, Green Oaks was charged with improper lane usage and DUI Feb. 4 at the intersection of Western and Vine avenues. Werley drove off the road in the 200 block of Western Avenue and flipped her vehicle in the process. She was found to be under the influence of alcohol, but otherwise uninjured. She failed field sobriety tests and submitted to a blood test at Lake Forest Hospital. She was released on a $3,000 personal recognizance bond pending a Feb. 25 court date in Waukegan.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Efim Rabinovitch, 51, 3844 W. Jarvis, Skokie, was charged with driving without headlights, driving while license suspended, operating without a safety sticker, obstructing justice and possession of drug paraphernalia Feb. 13 at the intersection of Route 41 and Gage Lane. Rabinovitch was observed driving without headlights while towing another vehicle. He gave the officer a false name, and was found to have a suspended driver's license. The officer also found a pipe used to smoke crack cocaine on Rabinovitch. He was released on a $150 bond pending a March 2 court date.

Minor Consumption of Alcohol

Aimee A. Fadden, 18, 9 Farmhill, Sewicklwey, Pa., and Stephanie L. Hill, 19, 101 N. University, Beaver Dam, Wis., were both charged with minor consumption of alcohol Feb. 13 in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. Both Fadden and Hill were transported to Lake Forest Hospital due to intoxication. Both have been assigned an administrative hearing March 9 at Lake Forest City Hall

Driving While License Revoked

Tasmine Y. Farag, 27, 1228 Edgewood Road, Lake Forest, was charged with driving while license revoked and operating an uninsured vehicle Feb. 5 at the intersection of Route 41 and Deerpath. Farag was known to have a revoked driver's license, according to the report, and was observed driving on Western Avenue near Illinois. She was arrested, felony charged were approved and the vehicle was towed pending seizure. She was held for a bond hearing set for Feb. 10.
