Register Now for Lake Forest's Citizens Police Academy

The 10-week program educates people who live and work in Lake Forest about the police department.

Do you know the extent of the work done by the Lake Forest Police Department?

The department invites community members to join its Citizens Police Academy to better understand the role it plays in the city.

The program is designed to promote and enhance citizen understanding and awareness of the role of the Lake Forest Police Department within our community. The objective of the course is not to prepare graduates to become police officers, but instead, to instill in citizens a greater general knowledge of the many functions of LFPD.

More than 20 topics will be covered in the class including hiring and training of officers, dispatching, patrol, DUI enforcement and traffic enforcement, administration of the department, investigations and youth, crime prevention and much more. In addition, students have the option of riding with an officer on patrol and firing department-issued handguns and rifles in the department’s indoor range.

The program, which will be held at the police department, is free to people who live or work in Lake Forest. It will run from 7-10 p.m. on Wednesdays for 10 weeks beginning Feb. 5.
