Search Continues for Missing Gurnee Man

The family and friends of Andrew Adler are organizing a search for this Sunday. Volunteers are sought for the search effort.

A search is being organized for this Sunday for Gurnee man who went for a bike ride last weekend and has not been heard from our seen since, according to the Daily Herald. 

Andrew Adler, 57, likes to ride the Des Plaines River trail in Lake County — especially on portions he has not biked before — and is also an avid swimmer, according to the article. There is some concern he may have gone into a local lake. 

Adler's friend, Dan Deuel of Gurnee, said Adler has never disappeared before, the Daily Herald reports.

He was last seen at 9 a.m. June 9 when he told his family that he was heading out for the bike ride, according to the Gurnee Police Department. 

Family and friends are organizing this Sunday's search, which will begin at Joy Lutheran Church at 749 S. Hunt Club Road in Gurnee at 1 p.m. The search will continue until 5 p.m., according to a Gurnee Police Department news release. 

Volunteers are needed for the search. Primary search areas will be the Lake County Forest Preserves and bike trails. Volunteers are encouraged to wear insect repellent and protective clothing.

Adlers has brown/gray hair, blue eyes and is 5-feet, 10-inches tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing black shorts and riding a blue Cannondale bicycle.
