Thieves Target Catalytic Converters From Parked Vehicles

Two cars hit at Lake Bluff Train Depot on the same day.

Numerous houses and even a church was hit by thieves trying to cash in on the exchange rate for copper.

Now it's catalytic converters.

Two vehicles parked at the Lake Bluff Train Depot, 600 N. Sheridan Road, were stripped of their catalytic converters on the same day - July 21, according to Lake Bluff Police reports.

The first occured between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. to a 2010 Lexus SUV. The catalytic converter is valued at $2,000.

The second happened between 9:15 a.m. and 9:42 p.m. to a 2006 Toyota Highlander. The catalytic converter is valued at $300.
