Lake Forest firefighters received three 911 calls from people reporting lightning strikes Thursday morning.
Lake Forest firefighters were assisted by about 15 other suburban fire departments as they worked to strike a house fire on the 300 block of Ravine Park Drive.
The residents safely evacuated the home and no one was injured, according to the fire department, but the home sustained heavy damage.

“There’s smoke and water damage pretty much throughout the house,” Battalion Chief Pete Siebert said.

The fire broke out between the third floor and attic spaces, Siebert said. “We opened up the roof and the attic areas and then we did have some visible flames from the roof,” he said.
The department also responded to a report of lightning striking a chimney on a home on the 1000 block of south Evergreen Drive and a bank on the 900 block of south Waukegan Road. Neither of those strikes resulted in a fire, Siebert said.
