Woman Asleep Behind Wheel Charged with DUI: Police

She was also charged with resisting arrest when police say she refused to be handcuffed.

Police responded to a call about a possibly impaired driver at 9:30 p.m. June 18 in the area of Westminster and Lake.

An officer found a vehicle stopped on Westminster with Francesca M. Prideaux, 56, of the 1500 block of North Avenue in Waukegan, asleep behind the wheel. When awakened, police say she admitted to drinking and said she had gotten lost driving from Highwood to Waukegan. She displayed a strong odor of alcohol and had bloodshot eyes.

When officers placed her under arrest, they said she refused to be handcuffed and attempted to break away from officers. She was charged with DUI and resisting arrest, released on $3,000 bond and given a July 25 court date.
