Woman Charged with Stealing $31,000 in Items from Lake Forest Home

ALCOHOL 

Samantha Rosenfeld, 19, of 171 E. Hillside Road, Barrington, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor after police responded to a report of an intoxicated minor at 12:57 a.m. Jan. 26 at Lake Forest College. She was assigned an administration hearing Feb. 12 at City Hall.

Jevon C. Hobbs, 39, of 1123 N. Latrobe, Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 1:38 a.m. Jan. 18 on Route 41 at Deerpath Road after an officer saw his vehicle swerve over lane markers several times. Police said Hobbs exhibited an odor of alcohol, admitted to drinking and failed three field sobriety tests. Because he refused to complete all chemical tests, his driver’s license will be suspended for at least a year. He was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Feb. 25 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

Mario Gomez-Popoca, 43, of 36913 N. Grandwood, Gurnee, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 9:29 p.m. Jan. 11 on Route 41 at Gage Lane. Officers stopped him for driving 85 miles per hour in 55 mph zone and said they found an open beer in his vehicle. He exhibited an odor of alcohol, admitted to drinking and failed field sobriety tests, police said. He was released on a $3,000 bond and given a Feb. 25 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

BATTERY

Aron Ruiz, 22, of 650 Allanson Road, Mundelein, was charged with domestic battery at 2 a.m. Jan. 19 on Route 60 at Ridge Road after an officer found two people arguing in a vehicle. Police said they learned that Ruiz and the other person had been arguing since leaving a bar in a neighboring town and that Ruiz had punched the other person in the arm. His bond was set at $50,000 and he was given a Feb. 13 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

ORDER OF PROTECTION 

Jared M. Coleman, 38, of 1207 Burr Oak Road, Lake Forest, was charged with violating an order of protection at 10:06 a.m. Jan. 18 after police said he had a relative make a phone call to the protected person, which was prohibited under the order. His court date is Feb. 14 at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.

THEFT 

Rhonalyn B. Nunez, 35, of 10388 Michael Todd Terrace, Glenview, was charged with felony theft at 12:45 p.m. Jan. 16 on the 800 block of East Ringwood. The charges came after detectives investigated a series of thefts from a home where about $35,000 in jewelry, watches and handbags were reported stolen between December and January. When detectives questioned Nunez, who worked in the home, they said she admitted stealing about $31,300 in valuables from the residence. Many of the items were later recovered. Her bond was set at $100,000 and she was given a Jan. 24 court date. 

Theodis J. Holmes, 31, of 1986 Enterprise, Great Lakes, was charged with unlawful use of credit card, a felony, at 1 p.m. Jan. 20 on the 100 block of South Saunders after police arrested him on a warrant. Holmes was also wanted by Lake County police for failing to appear in court on another theft charge, police said. The Jan. 20 arrest came after police received a report of a credit card stolen from the purse of an employee on the 100 block of South Saunders. Detectives later learned that the credit card was used at a store in Vernon Hills and obtained video footage that showed Holmes using the card to make a purchase over $1,000. His bond was set at $10,000 and he was given a Feb. 19 court date at the Lake County Courthouse in Waukegan.
