Zion Man Loses License After Allegedly Crashing into Median

Driving under the influence

An officer observed Dominic V. Zumpano, 35, while he was driving without his vehicle lights on shortly after midnight on Feb. 24. He displayed a strong odor of alcohol, admitted to drinking and failed two field sobriety tests. Zumpano was also driving on a revoked Wisconsin driver’slicense. He was placed under arrest and later released on bond with a March court date. Because he failed to complete all chemical tests required, Zumpano’s driver’s license will be suspended for a minimum of 12 months.

On Feb. 23, officers responded to a cell report of one‐car accident on IL Route 41 and spoke with Larry L. Johnson, 25, of Zion, who was the driver. His car had struck the median on Route 41, resulting in heavy damage to his car and scattered debris. Johnson denied being involved in an accident and claimed he’d had cartrouble and pulled overto call for help. He exhibited an odor of alcohol and struggled with balance. He was arrested for driving under the influence, processed and released after posting bond with a March court date. Because he failed to complete all chemicaltests required, Johnson’s driver’s license will be suspended for a minimumof 12 months.
